“Saving Private Ryan” for Veterans Day.

“So what exactly is your type, Charlie?”The strepitous bar atmosphere made the two men hunch together over their green beer. Familiar thoughts ran through their heads as a buxom young woman dressed as a Leprechaun, hustled by the two fifty year old men.
“You know me, Jack, love em and leave em, my policy. I have no plans of settling down with a family, too many hassles!”
“Well you know the old platitude, it will happen when you least expect it.”
“What? Changing my mind?”
“No, falling in love, love at first sight even. Just roll with it when it does.”
Then Jack took out a paperback wrapped in a plastic bag in his briefcase and handed it to Charlie. “Here ya go. Read this.”
Jack looked at the title, “How to Meet Wealthy Single Women”. “Really, Charlie?” Jack rubbed at a tuft of his long hair. “Is this like the last one you gave me, “Men are from Mars?”
“Nah, but it’s worth looking at. You’re not getting any younger”, laughing, putting his arm around his friend. “And look at this!” Charlie pulled out his phone and moved the cursor to show a dating app he used.
“Oh, gawd, Charlie, give it up will you?”

What? You can’t put that in the window!
Stop wagging on about it, Charles. The manufacturer said all new sweaters should be displayed pronto! This unexpected snowstorm has everyone scrambling for winter wear and we need to get in on it!
But we still have Halloween candy to get rid of.
Just put a sale label over the freshness date and box it for next year. Now get busy with those mannequins, and I mean all of them! Put some large ski goggles on that cracked one.

Looking at the news I think this is an appropriate song for a Monday. If nothing else, start dancing around the water cooler!

“This milk is spoiled! How do you expect me to use it? It’s too thick for the salty brew.”
“You millennials, always want the easy way out! A true champ of chefs would improvise. Instead of marching around the kitchen like a three year old having a tantrum, you could change tonight’s menu card.”
“By rights, I admit you have a point. Let’s make a luscious moist chocolate cake!”

This recipe is delicious, a family favorite from the Colorado Cache cookbook. This cookbook was a lifesaver for me, moving from sea level to mile high altitude. I cup of milk with one teaspoon of vinegar added, can be an easy substitute for buttermilk. There are absolutely NO bad recipes in this book! One of the best features of this recipe for a busy mom–no waiting for it to cool to frost.๐ฅฐ

“Have a seat right here. Want a soda?”
“No. I want a lawyer.”
“So it says here you said you were just walking by. Why is that?”
“I was waiting for a friend.”
“Would that friend be Jack Jones?”
“I don’t know any Jack whatever.”
“Oh, so the so called friend you were meeting wasn’t Jack? Then who?”
“Just a guy I met at the bar. Joe, I never caught his last name.”
“So you’re meeting a guy you don’t know his last name, for what?”
Squirming a bit, “just a drink. Can I call my lawyer now?”
“Just a few more questions. It says here you were seen talking to Jack Jones.”
“Like I said I don’t know Jack”.
“Then you won’t be upset to know Jack was found murdered a few minutes after you were seen with him.”
Appearing distraught, the suspect shook his head. “I told you I don’t know him, never talked to him and I want that lawyer, now!”
“You seem visibly upset by Jack’s death. Tell us again why you were talking to him?”
“I told you, I don’t know Jack. I’m not saying anything more until I get that lawyer.”

No idea what you’re talking about
No, I never shout
Truth is only what I tout
Climate change, or drought,
Polluted streams of trout,
New trees no longer sprout?
I use money as a clout?
Twittering only is my rout
Don’t agree, you’re a lout!
Phone calls that you scout
Never will own up, I pout
Strategy not thought out
It’s just my ego that I flout.

I choose “It Might as well be Spring” which I first heard in the 1945 musical, “State Fair”.

Many versions are available but this is the shortest to put on the blog.
