Dangerous games being played
False information displayed
Not a simple game on a board
Chess with lives as people hoard
Panic seems to be the rule
Leader acts as always a fool
“The game is afoot” has been written
There’s no fun in this game submitted.

Gold and silver splendor shown
A respite on the edge I’ve known
Evening comes in silhouettes
Unique sights one cannot forget
As slumber overtakes my vision
Observing nature a wise decision.

Tuesday, and the home was all aflutter. Old men donning shirts and ties instead of the casual pajama outfits and the ladies, well, you would have to see it to believe it! Gowns from the fifties, sixties, extreme accessories of long stored heavy jewelry, and youth donned in white gogo boots. It was an exceptional sight.
Previously, the eccentricity of the nursing home residents had gone unnoticed, but a few young nurses decided it was time to spice things up, and the idea of a special evening was born. A disco ball hung above the banquet fare, now offering tasteful treats instead of the usual nondescript foods. Music blared and it seemed to rejuvenate old bones into dancing. The nurses stood on the sidelines smiling.

How do you define personal space? Anyone a little claustrophobic like me? It’s uncomfortable and even irritating when in line and someone keeps touching you, pushing a bit, and you know they are in a hurry or impatient to be in your space. Reminds me of that line from a movie, “I’m walking here!”
Ever get run into or heels run into by a shopping cart? Oh that’s a favorite.. .what I’d like to do is turn around and say back off but I don’t. It’s worse when they do not apologize. What is it with people these days?
And kids, whoa! Running, yelling, acting inappropriately in public? Parents ignoring them and not even close by in some cases. Where are the parents and what are they teaching their children, if anything?
Too familiar teachers, professors at schools and colleges and how is the “victim” supposed to react? Lose a needed grade, or worse? We used to tell our kids, keep your hands to yourself. I guess that doesn’t apply anymore. Courtesy and manners seem to be dwindling.
What about you? Do you like your space to be invaded or are you the invadee?🥴

As a court reporter for the judge who mainly focuses on vice cases, I was familiar with women witnesses who charmed the jury.
A dribbling bit of saliva trickled down the chin of the prosecutor as he gazed upon the accused. Tasked with the cavil of outing her reputation, yet at the same time, has the cacoethes to prod her with accusations befitting an ordinary street walker. The stoic jury seemed unaware of his lascivious thoughts, as most concentrated on the more than quality view of her through the witness box.
The defense turned the leaf of his brief slowly, contemplating how he should bring them into the decision of declaring her innocent. As the prosecution pushed on, even though he was also eyeing the glassed box, he at last concluded his statements.
The accused was excused from the box and gave a wink to the men who were fascinated by her. Whatever the conclusion or verdict of this tawdry case, I feel she has won the day.

How big, how important
Must it be
To use the word crisis now daily
There is good news every day in this world
Yet good news is never hurled
At us morning noon and night,
For these revelations we must fight.
Fear certainly takes its toll
Worldly news plays a big role
Remaining positive to save your soul
Trying to bounce back from fear is the goal.

Natural splendor
Raindrops perched on red and green
Intensely fragrant

Oh to enjoy the freedom of my childhood once again. Walking over meadows, stretching up to climb big stone formations, being king of my surroundings, or laying among wildflowers imagining I was a princess in need of rescue. Childhood for many is a true gift, and only the reality of life boxes you in as an adult.
To hear barefoot slaps on hard brown dirt roads, squeals of conquest in the top of a tree, winded excitement of a thrilling long steep sled ride on crusted snow, laughter spying unsuspecting cousins with a pea shooter, evening grass lay abouts, watching stars, smelling new hay stacked in the barn–all of these are delights of my childhood.
