3TC – St Patrick’s Treat

Your three words today are:
POTATO
PATTERN
PAINT

***

The pattern was tasteful but the bright hot pink paint gave Joe, holder of the cruse, pause. He had shelled out most of his current pocket’s capital for this potato concoction on the advice of fellow coworkers. Every Friday a woman earned a few dollars for her homemade offerings, which were as some said, “beyond compare”.

The mug was full of creamy ingredients and did nothing to help quell a stomach’s lurch from last night’s hangover. He felt obligated as she dealt out mugs for all in the office lunchroom. A sip was all it took and Joe suddenly left the room.

#writephoto – Descend

For visually challenged writers, the image shows some stone steps spiralling down into a dark opening.

***

Curious minds must seek

Spiral down, take the chance

Frightening shivers crawl over your spine

Inquisition pulls though you should decline

Because who knows what lies at the end of that line?

Sad

Yes I am sad and disappointed since we hardly acted in a swift manner, to make a statement of acceptance to Ukraine President Zelenskyy‘s original pleas for help. 🙄😔

Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge

ice floating above

https://www.earthdate.org/why-fish-dont-freeze:

“As a lake freezes, the ice floats on the surface, insulating the water below and keeping most lakes—and the fish within them—from freezing solid. You would still, however, be very cold. Lake fish have to lower their metabolism and enter a state called torpor to reduce their energy demands enough to survive the winter. This is especially important in spring before the ice melts, when oxygen levels in the water trapped under the ice may be dangerously low. In that case, you’d need antifreeze in your veins. And polar fish have developed exactly that. They produce a glycoprotein that slows down water’s molecular motion to keep ice crystals from forming.”

Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #160

***

Joe was shocked! He thought his little story, however hard worked, was inimitable! He started his usual morning routine to browse the net, only to find his writings thriving on YouTube with a robust following. The story’s specifics were exactly the same! Joe tried to find the thief of his work to get some answers but his sign-ins were all blocked. Joe decided to call his friend at “We Know What You Know and More, Inc”.

EMSRP – Kitchen

Here are the questions:

  1. When you are in the kitchen cooking (or cleaning), do you have anything playing in the background (i.e.,TV, music, Julia Childs, etc.) while you are completing your tasks? If you are not someone who cooks or does chores in your kitchen, think of another chore or task. While you are doing that task, do you have anything going on in the background?
  2. What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten that someone cooked for you?
  3. Thinking of that weird food, did you like it enough to eat it again or get the recipe?
  4. What’s the food you usually refuse to share?
  5. Do you use recipes when you cook, or do you have your own way of cooking the food that you love? If you are not the person who cooks in your household, pick a task that has directions/instructions. Do you follow the directions or put them to the side?
  6. Bonus: Pick three smells in your kitchen that make you happy when you smell them.

Once you have answered all of the questions, be sure to tag it with #EM-SRP and create a pingback to this post.

I used to put on fast moving music when cleaning and as I have written before on my blog, my three kids would groan as they walked in the door after school to hear Neil Diamond belting out the “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show”. It was the “cleaning” song!😀

I only took one bite and then threw it up – a practically raw steak that the landlady put in front of me at a boarding house.

Never! I grew up in New England where all meat was thoroughly cooked till brown and dry.

I never refuse.

I rarely cook anymore. Baking is scary, lifting heavy big pans etc and in a wheelchair I’m sitting too low to cook stovetop much. I only use a recipe if I’ve not cooked it before.

Bacon. Coffee. Brownies. Hamburgers with onion.
