Watching the groundhog emerging from its lair, grief and pother spread among the crowd as heavy snow started falling immediately.

A sudden sharp pain was felt
He staggered and then knelt
Saw the stranger, a sight not rare
Across, just in a chair
Noticed only fingers long, no neck
Watched as “it” decided which to select
From a shaft of needles long and thin
Hoped this was only the nightmare, again.

A sliver of light flashed as she lit the match. Her plans to commit the crime and of course she never thought it a crime, had changed in the last few minutes. The hours which she had spent on figuring out how to do it were about to drive her crazy when suddenly a breath of clarity came to her. She decided not to mail the written note after all, she would burn it instead. As the fireplace clock sent it’s midnight chime, she watched the ashes fall and plunged the knife to her heart.

If I was devil or angel she fit my bill
She had my back even if she was ill
Always up front with words that she cared
A “mother” who’s time was always spared
To pet me, take a walk or give a hug
And accept a wet kiss from my dirty mug.

Love them for their schnitzel
Even for delicious cheese
But in the mountain high tops
They are yodeling with ease.
Talking to their neighbors
If highly trained, a treat
Takes a lot of strength
Starting at their feet.
With practice and their stature
Planted firmly on high ground
Performing mountain yodel calls
You’ll hear a unique sound.

How it all started is now irrelevant, it’s the ongoing problem that worries me. Planning is usually a waste of time because something always seems to come from behind, hits you sideways or even full front in your face that you didn’t think of. How does this happen?
Lists you say, what about lists? Write them, read them, do them, cross them off, isn’t that how?

“Loki, look at that, my wildest dreams wouldn’t make up a ship like that! And I guess children are going to ride in this? My own children will be very amused to see this, in Valhalla!”
The ghost of the Viking Ragnar just shook his head. How could they make such a mockery of the beautifully crafted ships we made? He was very disappointed to think children wouldn’t know the truth from objects like this. All they see are cartoon images wearing big horned furry hats brandishing swords. Ragnar was saddened by this apparent fact and all he could do was observe.
“Don’t worry so much about it. Their televisions and computers have series on Vikings and show real ships and how they were made. They even recovered a full ship in good condition! If they want knowledge about the history, they need to read about it.”
“It’s just such a shame. How can I be happy in Valhalla when these children will not know the real history of their ancestors?”
The two apparitions floated over the bow to take a closer look. “Oh, Loki, this is sad!” Ragnar pointed to a popcorn machine and soda stand in the hull.
