But, officer…

“Halt!” The officer appeared out of the evening limelight unexpectedly as Joe quickly put his clothes back on. “What galaxy of indecent behavior are you from, anyway?”

Joe looked sheepishly into the starry sky. He had been trying to signal the alien ship with his colorful 70s yellow bell bottom trousers, but as soon as the officer was detected, they went into their stealth cloak mode. If the officer had looked closely he would have seen the park area’s distorted view where the alien ship hovered, but instead just arrested Joe on the spot.

A2Z Raucous

Easter Sunday’s family gathering included a delicious dinner as always, made by my daughter. We were thankful to join together after missing the last couple of years. The raucous part was playing a game named “Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza”. It is similar to Spoons where you throw out a card and then everyone tries not to be the last one slamming your hand on the card. The funniest part was when a narwhal card landed. And it certainly got loud and dangerous😂.

“Each player places a card from their hand (like snap and dobble) face up in a community pile while saying taco/cat/goat/cheese/pizza in player sequence – when the card matches the mantra – boom – everyone slaps their hand on the deck – the last one picks up the cards – the winner is the player to lose all their cards first. For extra fun, there are special action cards – the gorilla, narwhal, and groundhog, which players have to make gestures before racing to slap the deck!”

dVerse Poets Quadrille

***

Scribbled message fervently scribed
Sticky lollipop residue beside
First a giggle and then a sigh
Uttered by the passers by

Kindergarten love not so shy
Wonders discovered in a high
Feeling felt and now described
In a chalk written sign

“I love Julie Jones”

Simply 6 Minutes

“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! Do you see her? She looks like a queen! Look at her wings all petally smoothed to perfection and the color! Couldn’t you just eat her up? Such a lucious, juicy looking orange? And the velvet brown spots on her—of course part of her protection, but oh my, I can just feel how soft they are! Look! She’s coming our way…oh my god, I think she’s going to land on you! I can feel her wings she’s so close, oh my god!

Ronovanwrites Sijo – Grace

You should use the word in the title of this post as your inspiration as either a theme of the Sijo or in the poem itself.

There are:Three Lines,14-16 syllables per line. A total of 44-46 syllables for the entire poem.

  • The first line of the Sijo usually sets the theme.
  • The second line elaborates on the first line.
  • The third line brings the poem matter to a close.

The setting can be nature, a favorite season, or some event of your day. Something, as I mentioned above that can be contemplative in nature. Within each of the three lines there is usually a pause.

The Concert of Aging

Grace was fading as if a dream, once being a symphony

Now a cacophony of mixed noise, hurtled in space surround

Brittle bones and awkward movements, complete a life’s orchestra.
