Fandango’s Flashback Friday
I haven’t been on here much. I’m trying to keep my head above water as my older sister just died and my other sister just diagnosed with three cancers. in hospital. I’m an emotional person at the best of times but now I’m a puddle. I’ll probably post oldies for a while but I am reading yours. 👍🏻
Daily Prompt: Flee
I was just getting up, not quite awake
When the front door started to shake.
Sitting on the edge of the bed I just listened
So early the moonlight still glistened
Through the cracks in the blinds
I tried to clear my mind.
What could be making all this prattle
The door on loose hinges started to rattle
A delivered package? From the bed I rose
They did not read my note, I suppose.
I left a note on the door you see
To leave any parcels for delivery
There on the outside of my door
Cause answering quickly is a hard chore.
After some scraping, thumping, and thuds
I heard a voice say “Hey, what’s up, Bud”?
I froze on the spot
Who could that be, what?
“Hey, you changed things in here quite a lot”
I sat very still, while the guy had a thought.
“Oh, my god, I am sorry!, Oh, my god, oh my god”.
You’d think I’d be nervous and scared
For this strange guest I was not prepared.
I stayed in my room, quiet as a mouse
Since no light was on it was dark in my house.
“Oh, my god, I’m so sorry, I thought this was Dave’s!”
Trying to be quiet while laughing I craved
The intruder kept saying how sorry he was
Then shuffled and mumbled, at the door he paused.
“Sorry again, I, uh, please forgive me”
I heard his footsteps as out he did flee.
True story!

Fandango’s Story Starter
This week’s Story Starter teaser is: When Ida discovered that she could hear the voices of the dead speaking to her when she tuned into a certain radio station, she decided to…
tune in every hour. She said missed her husband so much and just being able to hear his voice again would be be wonderful. She called the station to see if they could request a certain voice to hear.
Of course my dear! It’s only $100 a minute to speak to them, that is if they choose to speak to you, too!
Ida said his name was Joe Schmo and they seemed to respond immediately.
Apparently Joe has been waiting for your request!
Ida waited and then she suddenly heard her late husband’s voice: “I was wondering if you would try to contact me—and if you think I’m giving you the combination to that old safe, forget it! It’s your fault I “fell” down those basement steps! By the way, it took you five days to find me? Uh huh. Go to hell, Ida!

Simply Six Minutes

And So it Began
Hurry up, my wife cooked a pot roast for tonight and I can’t wait!
You know what the mayor said, get the body in there and cover it up quick!
But isn’t this crazy? All the guy did was show up in a dress at the bar. Almost everyone there knew him and even liked him! So why all the covering up and fuss?
Why all the fuss? You would want to see a guy in a dress in a bar?
Well if he’s brave enough to do it then why not? Who really cares anyway? So he’s wearing a dress? You know those guys down in the Irish pub? Every year they dress up in kilts to celebrate their clan heritage. No one seems to take offense at that!
What’s a kilt? Is that a dress?
No, it’s a blanket fashioned into a skirt of sorts.
I guess it was just this guy’s poor luck that he was beaten to death.
Poor luck? Apparently he didn’t realize the the mayor’s henchmen’s were there. Sorry, whoever you were. Shovel faster, I want to get home and forget this nasty business.

Here are this week’s questions:
- What colour are you wearing today? I’m wearing a green print top and light gray leggings.
- Will you be cooking lunch today, having something cold, or going out to eat? I will make a tuna romaine salad.
- Does hot weather drain your strength or agree with you? I’m rarely out in hot weather, inside I stay cool.
- Do you have air conditioning in your property? I have a/c but rarely use it. At night it sometimes comes on but I have a ceiling fan I use.
Gratitude: Today I am hoping for good news from my sister’s doc. She was just diagnosed with three cancers and may not be able to have treatment. It makes me grateful to be as healthy as I am.
I have no idea why when a color of font is chosen that it shows up only on certain words🤓WP🤨

The Sunday Whirl

I wasn’t as fit as I had been and started to feel miserably tired and lightheaded. Venturing higher in the wooded area I was now too tired. I thought to myself you are nuts going off on your own and then my throat agreed as I gulped water from an aluminum bottle attached to my backpack.
A riddle came to me as I leaned back on a large rock. “Into the forest I go to lose my mind and fill my soul” by John Muir. I guess that’s what I was doing, or trying at least. I did find a peace of sorts, it was so quiet there, even the birds seemed to be napping.
Suddenly a loud bang and I sat up quickly. I thought I heard a tiny whimper close by and saw a fawn laying in the grassy enclave. The deer was obviously suffering as blood spurted out near its jaw. I looked up to see a grown man near, obviously the shooter, seemingly blind to the harm he inflicted.
“What rights do you have to harm this innocent baby deer?” I yelled at the man who appeared nonchalant.
“You’re lucky I didn’t get you instead!” And then incredibly, he swung the fawn over his shoulder and walked off. I stood there for a moment, shocked, and then hurriedly made my way back to my car.
