Alert, watching
Ever observing
Noticing the odd shapes in the clouds
They pose a warning of strange wind shifts
Guess I’ll just stay here and rest today.

Maybe the old days of witch doctors or shamans were actually the good ones. Possibly cures for pain that may now be considered archaic actually worked!
As I sat for two hours waiting to be seen by a doctor who types on his computer, never knowing/reading what the nurse asked or you had to report to her, so you have to repeat it even though he’s not listening, saying test results good, that’s good news…
Oh and the pain you’re still having since I saw you 9 months ago? Make an appointment with your GP.
Maybe I need a voodoo ceremony or a dance around a fire…or a doll that looks like the doctor today and a very nice set of sharp pins…

Tried to do it quietly
Not appearing too brightly
But tip toe as I did
Could not quiet the lid
Chocolate chip are my best
‘Course I also like the rest
But things are rationed in my home
So when I think I’m all alone. . .
Glass cookie jar just sitting there
Delicious cookies of which I stare
Really, why should anyone care?
I don’t even need a chair.
I lift the lid and start to reach
And I hear my sister’s screech…
“Mom! She’s in the cookies again!”
Is she laying on me? Why am I not in a ponytail? Ok, here comes the rubber band, thank god!
I think it’s an eyelash, I need it rubbed out, ouch! Too much rubbing. I’m turning red, I’m turning red!
I’m just being covered by the quilt, can’t hear a thing…
Is that dust? I think, I think….achoo! Ok, here comes another one, I always sneeze three times in a row.
Sure, then I cough, and that dust..is that a tickle? I feel a tickle coming on…I need a drink of water!
You guys quit complaining, we have it the worst. I have to be tucked under the pillow, makes me start tingling, while my twin is freezing on top of the quilt! Then the inevitable turn and I get flung up around the neck, landing on the face.
We girls have it bad too, squashed one side or the other, can’t she just lay on her back and let us breathe?
Yeah, we think that too. We’re all squashed inside and have to constantly shift all night because she can’t lay still, rolling from side to side.
Well it’s not her fault. If you vertebrae had been more careful and not gotten so damaged we could be comfy down here too, but constant shifting keeps us awake all night!
Bend, unbend, flop to the edge of the bed, snap up to the fetal position…you guys up top have it easy, we never get any rest.
Well at least you do have times of quiet, If she forgets lotion, I itch all night. I keep all of you covered, you know, I do my best.
Okay, enough, already! I have a lot of thinking to do tomorrow, so how about we do a little meditating so I can relax my neurons? Now repeat after me, sleep, sleep, sleep…
“The Avengers” movie’s Loki was bold but pale
And in the end we all heard him wail
But in between he had some great lines
One which could be said in present times
Loki said he’s “come to free”, that’s his plot
Avenger Fury asks, “free from what?”
“Freedom” Loki replies, and smiles.
I think this quote may be applied
To T’s pastel perspective lies.

She finally arrived, her legs tired from the walk. She had sneaked into this old building many times, but this was first time she had to lie to her mother. Laurie was an avid reader and many a book on these shelves had beckoned to her. She had started reading in the youth section, and exhausting those books, moved into poetry. She was a curious girl, and her thirst for knowledge was only satiable within these broken walls.
Today was difficult, defying her mother, sneaking to this place she loved. Her mother’s concern was legitimate, since the library was now dilapidated and closed to the public, it was dangerous for a young girl. Laurie was aware of strangers being dangerous, but had never seen anyone else inside the premises. She relished the idea of quiet seclusion and scent of old books. Some with worn leather bindings were her favorites and she would hold them to her chest in a loving gesture.
She decided to choose a book of poems to stuff in her coat, to read at home. She was about to leave when she heard a rustle of the papers scattered on the floor. Turning, she saw an older gentleman, roughly cloaked with long hair and unruly beard. He seemed as surprised as Laurie when they met. Strangely, Laurie was not afraid; there was something about the man that made her instantly comfortable in his presence.
Her mind seemed to realize the fact he had also sneaked into the library to read the treasures inside. She slowly stepped near him and he offered a few words, “I see you like to read also”. That is all he said and walked on by.
Laurie hoped she would meet the old one again, possibly they would talk of books, something her parents did not enjoy. Unbeknownst to Laurie she had met the person she had always wished to meet, the Librarian.

A bright yellow spiky bud
A delicious weed, enjoy
The gold soon turns to feathers
Floating lightly to reseed.

I must have heard
This particular word
Before the age of eighteen
I must have, for was keen
On words, what they mean.
But I wasn’t so clever
On my first job endeavor
When something I assumed
Was comically presumed,
And I learned the old tune
About the word assume.
😶😶😶
The phrase supposedly originated by Jerry Belson: when you assume, you make an ass out of u and me. It is my own assumption this may be correct, but one should never assume.

The busy memorial floats on salty water hiding the lost military forever entombed in broken ships. To walk above them on a platform, I could not look below. I was so saddened by the thought of them floating; burial of whitened bones surrounded by a rubble metal of wasted efforts. The eager fresh faced seamen who entered the service with hopes and dreams of being heroes, where there can never be one.
