Daily Prompt: Guilty

Tried to do it quietly

Not appearing too brightly

But tip toe as I did

Could not quiet the lid

Chocolate chip are my best

‘Course I also like the rest

But things are rationed in my home

So when I think I’m all alone. . .

Glass cookie jar just sitting there

Delicious cookies of which I stare

Really, why should anyone care?

I don’t even need a chair.

I lift the lid and start to reach

And I hear my sister’s screech…

“Mom! She’s in the cookies again!”
