Movie Monday

When I received a refurbished, (advertised as new) dvr, I lost all of my recorded movies. I have a lot of favorites starting with J. One of those was this:

Jack Reacher

Yes I am a diehard fan of Tom Cruise and am looking forward to seeing the new Mission Impossible that came to theaters here this weekend. In the meantime try this:

MLMM Wordle #361

The calligraphy was originally written in black ink, but she decided to use red highlights so it appeared tinged in blood–his name especially, in dark red cracks, spaced apart for emphasis.

She tapped the cup with the odd pen, bound with a leather strap to her wrist. There was no need to cry out in pain or shed any more tears. The acidly penned missive would tell the tale.

Carrot Ranch Flash Fiction-Justin’s Case

I don’t know how it happened.

Justin, I can’t believe you did this–I’m so disappointed, and angry!

Well I didn’t mean to, it just happened! One minute I was saying goodbye, stepping up on the train, the next minute someone grabbed the case! The train conductor yelled all aboard, and I had no choice. I looked all around, saw no one holding the suitcase, so had to board without it.

You know what was in it, how could you?

Justin shook his head in remorse. I know mother, I’m sorry.

Now who’s going to bury your father’s bones?

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt #65

I pick up the phone

To make a call

Then I see it fall

From my hand, it’s no surprise

Coordination seems to have died

Before I can reach to retrieve

It plays a tune, my pet peeve

I see the caller on the screen

The one I’m calling there, is seen

Often times it so happens

Our brains sync, overlapping

We seem to be on the same plane

Is it telepathy?

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 29

My ears must be wrong

It’s been too long

Since I heard that song

And saw her dance

Did I ever have a chance

Did she even see my glance?

Couples glided around the rink

I thought our eyes might link

Then thought my heart would sink

Another swept by and took her arm

My attempt held no charm

I couldn’t compete with her gendarme

I watched them glide away

Hand in hand with a knowing sway

My heart on the icy surface lay

A moment, only a short distress

My vision turned to nothingness

I’ll never forget she wore a red dress.

SoCS 7-28-18

T for time. Finally asleep at two, then woke at four, asleep at five-thirty and woken at eight by the phone. Saturday, who calls at eight on a Saturday? My daughter, that’s who….and could I babysit today? When? Now.

Now she is my only daughter and I couldn’t love her more, but….they live three minutes away. I have that amount of time to jump- I say that figuratively- in the shower and be ready for my grandson. As it turns out I have fifteen minutes because he is walking and part of the sidewalk is closed for construction and the rainstorm has left huge waterways to avoid.

Amazing myself as to how quickly I CAN be ready, I unlock the door, take out hamburgers for lunch from the freezer, make peach iced tea and voila! I’m ready. Am I teed off I often get no notice before “company”? Nah! Otherwise I would be bored, lonely, and wondering why I was not asked in the first place!

Life is like the weather lately, one minute hot sunshine and you’re wishing for clouds and rain, then sitting inside because your wish was granted, only with thunder lightning and hail added. You have to enjoy the moment at the moment. Have a great Sunday!

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS July 28/18

Word of the Day Challenge: Lullaby

Is there a lullaby to soothe

Lost loves, lost dreams, lost lives

A lullaby so sweet and soft it makes you forget

For a time, even a short time

For nothing hushes quiet tears

Falling from your heart

Do you know of a refrain

To calm this melancholy

I’ve listened, strained to hear

While seeking this lullaby
