A Full Day

I thought I might have passed on to the great beyond….whatever that is, as I ate this salad/meal yesterday at the Panera restaurant in CO. It was the best salad I’ve ever eaten and I’ve had plenty, usually not with all of these ingredients, especially bacon, but omg, it was delicious. I told my friend in Houston if I lay on my deathbed I want a piece of the New York cheesecake topped with melted white chocolate and fresh strawberries served at a steak restaurant I can’t remember the name of, probably not even there anymore.

But, I digress. . .now I just want this salad.

Heaven in a bowl!😋

After this delight we went to the Denver Center for Performing Arts and saw “Les Miserable” and it was fantastic. The three lead singers were superb. Of course four of the saddest songs were made even more poignant by their beautiful voices.

Homeschooling

I know what you’re thinking, why would you want to do that, what’s wrong with the kid, why not support public schools? Well we have no choice in funding public education in school buildings; private schools are not what they’re cracked up to be, and home school worked out great for my grandchildren. Not all of them were homeschooled. It has a bad reputation. But with the offerings you can search for as a teacher, your children can reap the benefits. There are many different curricula in computer based programs. It takes dedication and perseverance on you and your child’s part. Below is just one of many outside activities you may participate in:

University of Wyoming ENZI STEM laboratories:

The instructor was impressed with her abilities and allowed her to take home the robotic car she made.

Depending on where you live, school choices, and opportunities available, homeschooling is a definite benefit. L is socialized well through athletics and other groups. Two of her older sisters were also homeschooled and both received full ride scholarships. It does take work on all parties, but we have seen the rewards.

Sunday Photo Fiction- My Head, My Head!

Joe was just your ordinary Joe, working a day job to pay for his nightly activities. His evening excursions took him from his daily life which was quite dull, to exploring the exciting venues of the night.

One such evening, Joe happened upon an establishment of ill repute, just what Joe was looking for. As he approached the bar, he was greeted by several different women, but Joe was looking for something unusual. He passed by the women for a few steps and then spied the treasure he had anticipated.

There she sat, haphazardly sideways on a bar stool, one leg bent, foot resting on the bar’s bottom rail, the other purposely splayed to the side, emerging from the split in her tight skirt. She gave Joe a sideways glance, and a slow widening smile. She knew what would please him, just another man, another victim in her sight.

Joe returned the smile, and sat on the barstool next to the red haired woman. His favorite color of hair he thought, blondes were too flighty and raven hair was just plain wicked. She grasped his arm and asked if she could buy him a drink.

He smiled bigger and felt his body respond to her touch. It was a surprise to him, since he didn’t have that immediate reaction to the other women he’d visited here. Joe ended up following her up to a shoddy small room, darkened by red and black furnishings. She sank down on the bed, inviting him close. After a few drinks of unknown origin, Joe woke up to find he couldn’t see, or hear, even swallow.

He felt around for the woman, but felt nothing. He raised his hands to rub his eyes. His head was missing. Joe had been doomed the minute he walked in to find the red haired woman. The only thing left was a stone facade of his head, along with others who suffered the same fate.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 30 and The Secret Keeper #152

A huge clash was heard as the small theater group performed Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven”. Quite an undertaking for the novice players, but they were determined to give it a go. The more ambitious members of the group were anxious to give their town’s audience something new, and since it was the month of October, browsed offerings of the occult.

As Poe’s poem “The Raven” took hold, they had obtained a live, large black bird to play the title role, not quite realizing the power of such a bird.

Opening night it happened. The stage hand in charge of the bird lost control of its tether. The raven flew onto the stage, crashing a fake antique bedroom lamp on the set. All were startled of course, but not as much as when seeing the bird streak across the stage to the teller of the tale. It landed on the bust above his bedroom door and proclaimed: “death dangled”.

The audience assumed it was part of the act and cheered wildly. Intermission was called and the lead actor, narrator of the poem, stormed off saying “working with animals. . . nevermore!
