Movie Monday

I just looked back and realize I repeated two movies, so sorry about that, hope I’m not doing it again, but some are worth watching multiple times. This week I hope you like “Thor Ragnarok” . My favorite character Korg was played by the director, Waika Waititi. I hope to see this character again, but I’m a diehard fan of Marvel. Another scene I like is “get help”. This movie has a lot more humor than the others in the Marvel Universe.

“Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.”

Hey! I had a hard time finding this post to answer the questions, anyone else? Of course not, it’s always, no, mom, you’re the only one. I guess that means I’m unique and I’ll take that as a compliment! Uh huh. I’m sure you’re waiting with baited breath for my answers so here they are:

1. What is your favorite beverage? My favorite is water. Next would be iced tea, peach, then a creamy caramel coffee.

2. What is your interpretation of the Golden Rule? I think it means simply put, treat others the way you want to be treated.

3. Sunrise or sunset? Since I rise very early but usually go back to bed, definitely sunset. We have beautiful ones in the west.

4. Do you think we anthropomorphize animals too much? First of all I had to look up this word. Second, I currently have no animals close to me. I have had many animals in my youth on a farm and pets as an adult. I think it’s amazing the comprehension and unrecognized potential of their brains, so I guess my answer is yes, but maybe in an incorrect way.

5. What are you grateful for this week? I am grateful to have a roof over my head, cooler weather, food in the fridge and notes from good friends.

MLMM Bonus Wordle – A

“Abracadabra, inside this tent is the world’s most atypical aardvark in the world today! Step right up, we’re always open to the arduous customers of County Almond!”

The barker swept back the huge curtain artifice and waved his customers inside. He kept the curtain tight, to avoid a wide angle vision for the unsuspecting crowd. His assistant turned up the amplifier and played weird creepy music to entice the crowd.

As everyone assembled in the folding chairs placed on grass under the large carnival tent, they agonized over waiting several minutes for the event to begin. Mumbling their discontent grew ever louder, but then the barker appeared.

“I’m sorry ladies and gentlemen, but tonight’s show will be canceled. Our guest, the aardvark, has broken his ankle and has been deterred from performing. Of course you may keep your tickets to use another day, but there are no refunds.”

The disgruntled crowd grew louder and unwillingly filed out of the tent.

Word of the Day Challenge: Gloss

You shine so bright

You seem to be gloss itself

Only a few know what’s hidden

Every day you pretend

Put on the shiny disguise

The perfect white toothed smile

Smooth tailored suit

The extra touch of intrigue

In extraordinary shoes

They are just a glimpse

Of what’s underneath

A clue to the real you

Under the gloss.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 17

“Okay, alright already! Now just sit there and be quiet for a minute. One minute, please, is that too much to ask?” A harried woman of about thirty years of age was trying to ignore her mother. Their relationship had become so unpleasant since Mary’s father died, she could hardly stand her mother’s presence.

After her father’s demise, Mary had soul care of her mother who lived in the same home. It was tolerable when her father was alive, but now Mary’s mother took all of her many frustrations out on Mary. Every day there was something that displeased her mother. It was as if Mary was incapable of doing anything right or the “right way” as her mother often put it.

Today it was baking. Chili was in the crockpot and Mary decided to make cornbread to accompany the dish. A salad was ready in the refrigerator and the table set. Her husband would soon walk in the door with their children. Wanting the bread to be hot out of the oven when they arrived, Mary started the baking process.

It was then Mary’s mother stopped watching “The Edge of Night” and came into the kitchen. Mary’s hands were covered in cornmeal when her mother approached. “Are you making cornbread from scratch? It’s so much better from a box. You know how you are, baking is not your forte. . .” Mary just kept on stirring and sifted the cornmeal into the bottom of the buttered pan. Then she plopped in the mixture and completed with a smooth-out of the batter.

“This is going to be delicious!” Mary turned and gave her mother a satisfied smile.

MLMM Saturday Mix

He would never admit

And always deny

Never act unless a self benefit

We wish for his absence

Upset by his presence

And his constant lack to commensurate.

We need a break

From his constant chatter

Wish he would turn to important matters

Not sit in his room

Talking of doom

Threatening our friends

To no good ends

Maybe he takes this old adage to heart

“and your enemies closer”

Forgetting the important first part.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 16

He was a long distance runner, winning in every race he participated. This talent also related to his home life, especially his marriage. He took many hours pleasing his family, making sure the home was neat and clean, playing with the children and an occasional try at cooking a meal. He was proficient in taking his time, which pleased his family a great deal. His wife thought she benefitted the most and was grateful he was not faster than a fortnight.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 15

Those little things

Happening every day

Causing nothing to go your way

The wifi is out

Your battery’s dead

All these things

Mess with your head

The bank is closed

ATM is not working

Another bill always lurking

Have to work late

Stalling your date

Are they caused by climate inversion

Or are they just pesky perversions?
