Putting My Feet in the Dirt 5

I shared an old Vermont cookbook recipe yesterday and one of the ingredients was cloves. If you use the recipe make sure to add the molasses before the dry ingredients, because those instructions were left out.

Crystal cloves must be a fairyland ingredient, but if you ever find any, you might want to add them instead of the boring old brown type. Who knows? Magic may occur!

Since I saw this today, I’m adding it for a chuckle. Wish I had thought of it years ago. Of course I would have needed a $100 dollar bill!😉

Three Line Tales #140 and FOWC:Lamppost

Sure, he saw it. He never missed a thing. Well maybe one thing. He leaned on a SF icon, the lamppost, thinking about Joe. He always remembered him especially on nights like these. . .damp, foggy, sounds of foghorns in the harbor.

It was just one of these nights when Joe met her. Sultry, swaying into the bar, eyes wide and dark, blonde hair tangled from the mist. She spotted Joe right off, placing her well formed body too close to his barstool.

The exit sign warned, and Joe should have left, knowing she wasn’t the sort to mess with.

Word of the Day: Vacillate

October, the time of year

To get out warmer gear

And then cuddle up

Make stew to sup

After dinner don’t vacillate

Hot chocolate plain? No, wait

Marshmallows, I contemplate

Sweet and soft on my palate

Add warm muffins on your plate

Perfect for October dates.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 4

“The Gnomes of Netherland”

The girl was small for her age. She had dreams of greatness from constantly reading in her spare time. Every subject seemed to fascinate her as she read of fairyland adventures, animals portrayed in humanlike forms and tales of frog princes.

As she grew her imagination swelled and she started writing stories of similar creatures in her own words. Even in her busy teenaged years she kept writing. Throughout her education she attended the library’s author sessions where she would meet some of her idols.

As her profession was chosen to be an editor in a small publishing company, she continued to meet authors she admired. On this day she was the author featured at her local bookstore where she signed copies of her own storybook, “The Gnomes of Netherland”. As she met and talked with the young customers, she reflected on her journey.

MLMM Tale Weaver #191 – Time

Swiftly it goes

No time to drift

Easily on your way

Life is short

Time passes too fast

Is it time to look back

See if you can find your life’s worth

Or only forward to the ever changing void

Does it depend on your age, your health,

Wealth, or your mind’s ability to envision the future

What you wish it to be or look back to what might have been?

No, it moves too fast for introspect, reflection

Look only forward.
