Weekend Movie

I didn’t even know of this movie until I saw it Friday night. It has two of, no three, of my favorite things, humor, gorgeous men, and action. It is a tongue in cheek take off of the television series “Man from Uncle” but I think better and of course different.

Tell the Story

Kristian over at https://talesfromthemindofkristian.wordpress.com asked me and other bloggers to write something about the photo below:

Finding himself somehow transported to this venue, in such later years in the future, Lord John Grey had steadied himself by plopping down on a nearby pew. Not being a religious sort, he was very curious as to why and where he found himself in these circumstances.

The last thing he remembered was talking to his son William as they paused to take refreshment in an opening in the wood. There were a few stones, rather large, to make a suitable resting place for the two horsemen with weary backs. As he opened the canteen, he leaned back to close his eyes for a second, whereupon opening, found himself discombobulated in a church.

Having only attended church at a wedding or funeral, he looked around and immediately thought of Jamie Fraser, who was very familiar with such surroundings. His mind often drifted to Jamie, especially since he was now in charge of Jamie’s son.

It was only a moment aware of his transportation, when suddenly shaken by William. “Da, where did you go? You gave me a fright!”

John surveyed his present placement and replied, “My son, I have no idea”.

My apologies to Diana Gabaldon for encroaching on her characters whom I dearly love.

MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt-Its all in the title

Voices in Brimstone

The Dissonant Heart

Wraiths at the Window

Secrets Only Children Know

The Automaton Who Became Self-Aware

The Perils of a Guilty Conscious

The Virtue of Silence

The Crying River

Death of Desire

Eliza Happenstance

****

I cannot quiet the Voices in Brimstone or The Perils of a Guilty Conscience. The Virtue of Silence is lost on them. The Crying River from The Dissonant Heart inside my chest washes over me and hopes me to drown. The Secrets Only Children Know are like Wraiths at the Window, only visible to those pure of heart. The Death of Desire would only be squelched by being The Automation Who Became Self-Aware, and then where would I be? Satisfied as an Eliza Happenstance or ignored as a malfunctioning piece of someone else’s design?

MLMM First Line Friday

Millie couldn’t believe her luck, an eighteenth century, hand-carved oak hope chest with original fixtures intact– and all she had to do was convince them to sell it to her.

“You see sir, it is exactly like the one my grandmother had, and even that one had been handed down from her grandmother!” Millie pleaded with the antiques dealer to take the sum she offered, considerably less than the quoted price. The vendor stood stalwart and scowling.

“I can’t let this art work go for such a meager sum. Possibly I could arrange for an installment account to be set up, perhaps a three month arrangement?”

“Oh that would be kind of you, sir” and the deal was made. Millie had seen the chest in the window on her way home and came prepared with a borrowed truck to take it home. Unknown to the vendor, this chest was one of a kind and truly had been passed down from generation to generation. For the same reasons it was kept in the family, Millie had to retrieve it.

Placing the chest in the bedroom of her modest home, it surely stuck out from the rest of the furnishings. Millie could hardly wait to see what would happen now that she had the chest back in the family again. That night she drew up her covers while keeping an eye fixed on the chest, fell asleep, and dreamed of things to come.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt #92 +

In the midst of sadness and despair

The old man brushed his hair

Then poured the steaming brew he made

Settled down under candle’s shade

Rubbing whiskered chin he thought

Hoped his awful dream was naught.

Ragtag Community Prompt: Effort

You know that guy

That special one

Always up for a bit of fun

My next to the oldest grandson?

I admire him for many things

Of the effort he makes, I have to sing

From school to home, a hurried trip

A surprise visit he did not skip

This morning knocking on my door

Big hugs, could never ask for more.

❤️❤️❤️❤️
