Sunday Photo Fiction 4-14-19

I’m so glad you talked me into this!

Well it’s not my fault the release lever jammed!

Another fine mess you’ve gotten me into, Charlotte.

Just a few more hours till the repairman could be lifted to fix it.

You think the fire department has time to bring their ladder truck out here? Ridiculous. And if you don’t mind, squeeze over, you’re squashing me.

You know Herman, these mini vacation trips are supposed to be fun.

My idea of fun is lounging in my recliner with a beer watching a football game.

That’s why I fell in love with you, Herman, your endless sense of adventure.

Rory’s Perfectly Crazy Bucket List!

I was tagged by Fandango at https:// fivedotoh.com to participate in this fun challenge, thanks for thinking of me!

So here’s how Rory started things off:

So, so much to do, and with so little time,
I want to do everything, nothing to be missed,
But how do l plan it all, how do l define,
The perfectly crazy bucket list?

Then he handed it off to Paula Light, who added this:

First up is a lush tropical jungle,
Jaguars and waterfalls… all quite insane;
I do hope my parachute isn’t all bungled,
When I jump from the doorway of this airplane!

And now it’s my turn:

I want to take a rocket into space,
Or maybe a submarine ride deep in the sea.
I sure hope they will save me a place,
Because that’s where I really want to be!

And let’s see what Cheryl, aka The Bag Lady, does with this.

Here’s my addition:

I’ll pass this along by tagging Michael, the Tale Weaver:

A to Z Challenge – M

M for movies! I’m a movie nut. I get more emotional now watching them than ever before. The only type I don’t like are gory, torture or horror. I say that with full disclosure as I will be glued to the new season of Game of Thrones tonight. This weekend I’ve been watching the last season to catch up. It is very popular and the idea that the producers are ending it this year doesn’t seem to make sense. But I digress…again.

Movies is the topic and each Monday I try to remind you of one I enjoyed that you might have missed.

Of course the new Avenger’s movie comes out in a couple of days. I don’t watch previews, I think they show too much, but I am looking forward to seeing it. I’m splurging to watch it on the big screen, comfy reclining seats, icy cup holder filled with a soft drink and popcorn of course. A rare treat and I plan on taking full advantage!

Let me know what you’ve seen last and what you thought!

Eight Tracks?😳

“Where is that eight track player we used to have? Remember it was a portable we took on picnics? It was plainjane, no phosphorescent filaments needed, or connection to the Internet to use. I was going through my dad’s boxes from the attic and found a large collection of eight tracks. I can’t wait to listen to them again.”

His teenage son rolls his eyes.

MLMM Saturday Mix

🌱🌱🌱🌱

Spring had sprung, she heard the tweet

From baby birds nesting in trees

She loved the warmth in the air

With new growth everywhere

Unwanted bugs alight her arm

Receive a zap in no uncertain form

A deep breath of fresh spring air

An achoo resonates there

Spring buds are lovely for the bees

But they always make her sneeze.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt #101

They gossiped Larry was a charlatan

Because of the way he can

Make a girl swoon

Way before noon

Jealous they were of his talents

They knew not how to balance

Love and lust

Provided no trust

But Larry knew, was adept

Loved sincerely, even wept

When they left him unaware

They’d never find another who cared

So deeply, sweetly, extraordinaire.

SoCS April 13, 2019/A to Z Challenge L

Good day! It is cloudy but warmer. It’s sort of rubber band weather here, one day 80F the next day 17F. I try to keep my thermostat tuned to a steady 62 degrees, hoping the “no up and down, steadiness” keeps my bill low. My guess is that it will be another (summer) needing no AC so that should help. Have a pleasurable weekend! My take on Linda’s SoCS Prompt, lip:

***

They called him, Larry the lip

Had a dance in in his step

And a swing to his hip

All the girls knew Larry well

Seemed to have a kissing spell

Every girl he ever dated

Left his company quite sedated

His lingering lips

Each time he kissed

Almost caused the girls to faint

Other boys voiced complaint

What was his secret formula

Their own kisses normula 🙄

There was no secret to tell, alas

He was just born with this class

He kissed them all, left them in stupor

They all loved him, his kisses super.

😘😘😘

Rory’s Spin the Yarn – Devil or Angel

In school I was rumored to be a devil, or angel, depending on their outlook. I usually kept to myself, but if cornered I was able to fight back. You might say I had my “ways”.

It wasn’t long after moving to a new city that I met a friend at the school. I thought she was a friend, I certainly needed one. I learned to trust her, because being the new girl in school is not exactly easy, wanting to be accepted, yet not lose my individuality.

I learned a lot from this girl, most of it gave me the education for the devil in me. You see we all have a devil in us, some keep it well hidden and others seem not to care what others think and show it often and openly.

In the second year at school, I met a young man I thought would be wonderful to be with. At first he doted on me and me on him. I left the safety of my female friends and accepted him as my only one. I felt and acted the part of the angel, a pet name he gave me.

I soon learned I was wrong, that he still loved his former girlfriend. I was just a pawn as he plotted to make her jealous.

It was then the devil showed it’s face. Being heartbroken, betrayed and now looked upon as a fool by my girlfriends, my vengeful side took over. Yes, I was a fool. I left my friends and let him take over my life.

That Friday morning, classes had started but I was not attending. I walked into the parking lot and made sure no one was watching. I took a bottle opener and scored his favorite posession, his car. I then left a typewritten note on the dashboard claiming responsibility by his reunited girlfriend.

The next day I went to class as usual. I rejoined my friends at lunch in the cafeteria and heard gossip of the broken relationship. I held in my smile.

“How Credible or Creative do you find my tale – please score me out of 10.”

Story Starter 12

“What can I get you today?” The flower shop clerk asked the old man, as he seemed unable to find what he was looking for. He looked back at her and pulled out an old piece of paper. He pantomimed wanting her to read it, so she took it from him.

The paper was a copy of a familiar love poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning:

After she read it, she smiled at the man, and handed it back. She could see a sort of pleading in his eyes, possibly wanting a suggestion for choice of flower. She took his arm and guided him to the fresh bouquets made that morning. She picked up an old fashioned bunch of wildflowers, sweet smelling. He smiled and nodded.

It was the sixtieth anniversary for the man and his wife. He had stopped to buy her something special on his way to the nursing home.
