3, 2,1 Quote Me

From the mysterious and ever curious mind of Rory, his Prompt came to me by Cyranny over at her cove, http://cyranny.com/and thank you, C for including me! The subject for quotes is inner beauty, which I think can be seen in a person’s eyes. A window to their soul perhaps? It’s the first thing I notice about a person.

His morning ritual always the same

Drinking tea, a snack, while watching the game

Then after lunch to the shop he would walk

A luscious flower bouquet’s what he sought

Every day ”twas a gift for his wife

To ease her sad current mental strife

Each time she reminded him with “oh my dear

Such extravagance will have us in arrears!”

FOWC with Fandango — Arrears

50 Word Thursday – The Bottle

Another day, coming home from that interminable job causing unending despair and nothing to look forward to. It was just another day he thought, wondering why he should try so hard. Did anyone care, really?

No smiling “hello, happy you’re home” greeting him at his doorway. He only had one friend.

Bill Said It First Apparently, But …

Rory’s Spin the Yarn 2- Who Said it First?

***

The game is up Joe thought as he feverishly packed his bag for the next flight out. He successfully retrieved the map scrolls from Zanzibar, and dumped his revolver in an old sewer drain. He was being followed and had to leave Marguerite at the airport terminal, making an excuse to use the bathroom. She seemed totally unaware of his plot to grab the maps and leave her behind. She unknowingly made the trip a success. It would be dangerous for her to accompany him back to Washington and his ruse might be found out. This way he could simply say there was a mixup and then after a few more dates, let her down easy.

Joe boarded the plane and settled in for his trip back to DC. He was just ordering a bourbon, neat when he heard a familiar voice.”So there you are! We must have gotten our tickets mixed up. I was almost boarding a different plane when they asked if I wanted to join my companion on his flight since there were extra seats available.”

Joe was flabbergasted. All of his spy training hadn’t prepared him for this event. He didn’t appear as smooth to Marguerite as he usually did. She was surprised he seemed flustered.

M sat down next to him and started chatting nonstop about how their plans had gotten mixed up somehow, but it really didn’t matter since they were together now and everything seemed fine and they were going back home again, right Joe?

Joe was speechless, but asked for another drink, thinking, yes, he could pretend all was fine, sure he could. He mustered up his actuary persona and pretended to really listen to Marguerite.

MLMM Wordle #131 + A Ripple in Time

I thought it unrealistic, his contacting me again. His approach a bit wonky, but I think I was ready to give in to the fact we were always going to be friends, at least some sort of friends. It was only a ripple in time. I tapped the return icon and found myself saying yes to a dinner party invitation.

I chose the lovely green satin to compliment my eyes; my disposition was cheery on the outside, trying to appear nonplussed, but then I saw him. How could I resist that crisp white shirt, the piercing blue eyes, the scruff that had since turned grey? He was never that polished looking, even on occasions like this. I tried looking away to some other person in the crowd, but his magnetism was too great. Somewhere a bell sounded and everyone took their seats.

Suddenly he was behind me pulling out my chair and I seemed to stop breathing. As he settled beside me, I marveled at what fate had sat him next to me? My metanoia vanished, I was completely within his power once more. I glanced sideways to find his blue eyes burning into mine. It was an unspoken signal, he was back. I am sure I blushed openly, and there it was, that smile, that “I know I have you” smile, on his face. I felt hot, too hot, and I backed up my chair to leave the room. Fumbling with my tiny bag, I retrieved my handkerchief to dab at my cheeks.

My rising was so abrupt I knocked my chair to the floor. Of course he quickly righted it and mumbled an apology as I left for the balcony door. I was catching my breath, taking in the coolness of the evening air when he touched my arm. “Are you all right?”

It seemed sincere, I wanted to believe it. The entire idea of coming here was to see him again. Shouldn’t I have expected this? I turned to face him. He kissed me, and once again I was there, falling under his spell. As he held me tighter still, I melted into him, as I always had before. It was only my subconscious thinking how long it would be before he’d leave me again, used and ashamed that I was so malleable. I pushed it aside. I accepted the invitation, the touch, the kiss I had been yearning for. I would be enraptured again, for as long as it lasted.

Whats My Story Then #6

Marguerite hurriedly packed her bags, her anticipation palpable. Only the bare necessities she smiled, thinking she’d barely need those! She had waited for his invitation a while. They had talked of it, dreamed about an exotic trip, but it was all fantasy. . .until today. She had never thought about Zanzibar, only seen it in movies or posters, but now. . .her excitement grew.

Joe was trying to figure out if he should take the revolver if he needed it but didn’t want to raise suspicion on M’s part. She was his lover–in theory. It was all a planned ruse by Joe to accomplish this last job. The boss had found the man who had the photo, now Joe had to find the maps.

The once lost city was there in Zanzibar, the photo proved it. Obtaining the secret inside the old structure would require his special abilities. M knew nothing of his career, thinking he was an actuary for the government, certainly not a 007 operative.

Joe was in “attraction” with Marguerite, but any long term relationships were not in any spy’s future. However, M provided the perfect shill for this mission. He would play the lover for a few days while vacationing on the island. To her, the ancient building would be looked upon as a tourist attraction.

It shouldn’t take too long to find the map scrolls he was sent to find and sneak back to join her. All was going as planned he thought, as he walked from the airport taxi to her door to start their trip. She was the perfect cover. He almost felt sorry for her.

MLMM Photo Challenge #261

Jerry’s mom was shocked. Hearing a muffled scream, she entered her son’s bedroom to see his face covered, as he stood in his favorite hoodie. His hands seemed to sparkle with electric beams as the screaming continued.

Jerry was at his laptop as usual, when an email sprung up on the screen from a strange address. The message read “How would you like to view the world up close?” Being the curious teen, he clicked, thinking it was a travel vacation ad. Suddenly his hands were glued to the keyboard and when he could finally remove them, found he had something on his head.

Jerry, appearance back to normal, and his mom have been hospitalized in a mental care facility. The laptop in his room is still sparking.
