Song a Day Challenge, Day 3

I grew up listening to all kinds of music.  I took piano lessons and mom taught me how to play a little on the organ.  I loved the fact you pushed pedals with your feet.  I can imagine how I’d do at that today!đŸ˜‚đŸ˜±. So my pick for today is a song I learned to play (most of it) a million years ago, Liebestraum composed by Franz Liszt, 1811-1866 near Hungary.

“This particular piece written by Franz was published in 1850 and written while he was in Weimar. The word Liebestraum refers to a three set piano works and also “dream of love”. Liebestraum is one of Franz’s slower meaningful romance pieces. Liszt composed this piece in hopes of attracting but, also giving the public a sense of adoration.”

“Choosing a piece for this period was difficult only until coming across this piece. Listening to the song for not even a minute seemed to be very gentle and calming which gave of a certain feeling that is hard to describe. The amount of passion and emotion that was heard for the first time was immense. Listening to the whole piece, one can truly see how enthusiastic Franz was about his music and how he loved to incorporate his own strong feelings in his songs.”

My two nominations for today are:  cyranny.wordpress.com and judydystrabrown.com

Tale Weaver #10-Sight

“Your eyes are beautiful, so colorful.  But I really can’t see a problem.  How long have you been seeing these apparitions?”  The optometrist was almost mesmerized by her beauty.  Not just her eyes, but everything about her gave him a very warm feeling.  He stood up and put away the instruments.

“I told you, about two months.  Ever since my husband passed away, I’ve been seeing, like white clouds,  out of the corner of my eye.  I thought it was just tiredness because I haven’t been sleeping well.  But it’s not stopping, I see it day and night now.  Surely there’s a problem.  Can’t you find anything?”

She sounded so desperate, he almost wished there was something wrong.  He felt the need to help her, for many reasons, but how?  These images must be a figment of her imagination, surely, just stress over her husband’s death.  He did have a medical degree, but was not a psychologist.  However, he wanted to help.

“I don’t see anything physically wrong with your eyes.  But tell me more about those images you’re seeing.”  This conversation led to a chance meeting at the local Starbucks coffee shop, where he spent a few hours intently listening to her.  He wanted to help, of course, but more than that, he wanted a relationship with her.  The coffee talks became a usual thing until she offered to fix dinner for him one evening.  She trusted that he was a good friend now, and looked forward to his company.

After a few months of meeting for coffee and dinners at each other’s homes, he felt she was ready for him to propose something more permanent.  Gathering up all of his courage and expectations, he prepared a casual dinner.  As she walked in, he could feel his attraction grow.  He sat her down at the table and softly, quickly, kissed her cheek.  She blushed and as they ate dinner, their eyes were constantly focused on each other.  After dinner they were sitting together listening to music.  He decided the time was right.  He turned and took her in his arms.

“I’ve felt this way ever since I saw those beautiful eyes.  I’ve waited to tell you I think I’m in love with you.”  She looked at him, then past him, and suddenly screamed.  He followed her eyes, and as she collapsed, he saw a white cloud like apparition moving toward them.

Three Line Tales, Week 60

“Today’s special? Hmmmn I can taste it now!” He licked his lips over his long teeth. ” Fresh, bloody, and delicious.”

The butcher at this establishment was not only old, he was ancient. He had been “supplying” his bloodthirsty friends for well over a thousand years. Other butcher shops come and go, but Henri’s always provided what was necessary. They all needed each other to survive. It was their way, stay close, in groups, protect the clan.

“I have a treat for you” the butcher declared. “Fresh from the sea. Last night there was an unfortunate accident and a boat overturned.

Word Prompt-42 Potion

Your mind is flooded with emotion

Thought you earned that promotion

Or that love and devotion

Turned out it was corrosion

Made you consider poison

Or turn into a nicotian

Is this a proper notion?

Won’t soothe your heart like a lotion

What’s needed is a forward motion

To stop your mind’s demotion.

Is there a happiness type of potion?

100 Word Wednesday and Two Word Prompt 3- Deep Breath

“Beautiful, isn’t it? A pristine scene, certainly. That old saying, no one knows what goes on behind closed doors fits well, don’t you think, dear?”

Frank just let his wife talk, on and on, never stopping, as usual. All these years of committing crimes with her, you’d think he’d be used to it by now. As he kept shoveling the intended grave deeper, he wondered if he could fit two bodies instead of just one.

“I could use a little help here, Emmy.” As she neared, Frank took a deep breath and swung the shovel. Smiling, he muttered, “yes, dear.”

Song Challenge Day 2

I went over a few choices and  Paul Simon came up.  I have many favorites from him but I chose this one “Something So Right“.  Every time I hear it it gives me a smile because of the lyrics “something goes wrong I’m the first to admit it….but the last one to know”😉 It might be the story of my life!

“When something goes wrong

I’m the first to admit it

I’m the first to admit it

But the last one to know

When something goes right

Well it’s likely to lose me

It’s apt to confuse me

It’s such an unusual sight

I can’t get used to something so right

Something so right”

Written and performed by Paul Simon.  I have it on the album from 2010, named The Essential Paul Simon:

Daily Prompt:  Acceptance

They used to say “everything’s fine and dandy”, I never hear that anymore. Maybe it’s the word dandy, like gay, or queer. All of those are perfectly good words, but today they are used in an entirely different, derogatory way. It’s like my using some swear words in my posts. I would never even thought those words years ago. The thought of actually writing them in public would have been shocking.

Is this acceptance? Is this the way it’s going to be? Going further and further into a state of disgrace? Okay, that may be overly stated. But if a man can be elected, not appointed, or by birth, but actually chosen, to a position of leading a huge nation of people, who is in my opinion, a disgraceful person, I think we’re on the path.

Acceptance of the new meanings of words, bad language in public, bad manners all around, hateful innuendos and even blatant disregard of others’ rights, are becoming the norm. Even my writing this is a public accusation. But it’s my right, right?

Song Challenge Day 1

I was nominated for this five day, a song a day, by betchadidntknowthis.wordpress.com.  She always has something new and interesting on her blog, so check it out!  I love music so this should be hard, only picking five songs…..

The rules are:     Post a different song quote for five consecutive days.

Post what the song quote means to you (optional).

Post the song that the quote is from.

Nominate two different bloggers every day of the challenge.

My first pick is “Crash and Burn” from the 2006 album “Truly, Madly Deeply”by Savage Garden.  I love the songs in this album because most of them have special meaning for me.  At this time, the quote “If you feel all alone, and the world has turned its back on you….” means a lot because I have a friend who needs to know I’m here for him.  (Not anyone here on the blogs I follow.)

Two bloggers I nominate today :  manvsloneliness.wordpress.com and renegadeexpressions.com
