Examples of Control – Daily Prompt

You’re riding a horse

Saddle is slipping

And you yell whoa!

The horse refuses

The saddle, you lose it

The horse is in control.

You’re out to lunch

With the office bunch

They all order salads

You’re wanting steak

Which road do you take

Are you in control?

Your teenager’s driving

You hope he’s surviving

But when on the street

With friends he meets

Do you hope he keeps

Calm or do his friends control?

The issue of needing this or that

A new cd, a phone or new hat

Does your bank account take a downward roll

Are you strong enough to maintain control?

We all want to be in control

But fate is sometimes on a roll

Taking its amusing toll

On each and every single soul.

Wordle #153 – Life in the Meeting Room

Similar to most institutions, there was a smattering of grass and flowers surrounding the building, and a makeshift garden for visitors to sit on whitewashed benches.  Of course these narrow seating areas were only for visitors and hardly visible to the men within.  The sheen of the outside of the building had an almost masquerade-like appearance, hiding the inner horrors.

The calm outside atmosphere revealed nothing of the price paid by the patients for their outbursts.  There was a daily quarrel in the meeting room, causing the orderlies and other medical personnel to scramble, trying to prevent harm to anyone.  Some of the more unstable patients would play rotten tricks on their “keepers” just to amuse themselves.  Some of the more severe pranks resulted in violence and the consequences unpleasant.  These men were usually isolated for a period of time.

It is not possible in this age to control vicious behavior in an upset, bothered mind.  It is unfortunate for those afflicted with extreme mental disease to be in these prisons, disguised as hospitals.  It is also sad for the incapable families of these individuals.

The Secret Keeper – Braving the Bullies

He was a brave, but timid little boy. Born into a large family, his particular wants or needs were not usually met by his parents. His older brothers and one of his sisters, Mary, fulfilled his wishes. Because of this relationship, Joey grew extremely close to Mary and this closeness turned into dependency.

Every day, rushing to get ready for school he waited for Mary to help him pick out his clothes, urge him to brush his teeth and  comb his hair. Joey loved this attention that was lacking from his mother. His mother loved all of her children, she thought equally, but Joey seemed to be often overlooked.

This morning, Joey was ready for school and waiting for Mary to walk him to his first grade class. She was responsible for his safety to and from school, and took her job seriously. This day, her inner mother had to take over her twelve year old mind.

As they walked down the sidewalk the usual bullies would tease them asking for lunch money, commenting on how he was such a baby he had to stay near his sister, the usual bully chatter they experienced every morning. Mary was not that tall either, but she was strong and even stronger willed.

The boys were raving over how cute she looked in her new jeans. She was small, but already  a beautiful girl. Joey didn’t realize exactly what was going on but he felt uncomfortable. Mary held her little brother’s hand tighter and urged him to walk faster.

About two blocks from the school, the crossing guard was not yet in view. The larger bullies started getting closer with their bikes, trying to scare Joey and they were succeeding. Joey closed his arm in Mary’s and they walked along quicker. They were almost to the crossing guard when one of the bikes hit Joey.

Mary turned to the boy that hit Joey and shoved him off his bike. When the crossing guard heard Joey’s hurt cry, he ran to help. The other boys on bikes hurried off to school. After checking to see if Joey was all right, the guard took Mary and Joey into the school.

Joey was bruised but fine enough to continue to class. Mary gave him a hug and went to her own class, confident, knowing, if necessary, she could take care of them both any time.

Share Your World- May 1, 2017

Sorry about that earlier morning rant when it was supposed to be tell me something good.  But after texts and phone calls ringing, I showered and have a new attitude.  Well, somewhat.  But hey, a new month, a new week to endure our (ahem) president’s marvelous decisions, so here we go!  Life is an adventure, right?  A good adventure?  (Bad word) yeah!  And it’s not the one you’re thinking!😂

Ceenphotography.com is here again with her ever extrapolatory  questions, and here are my answers:

1.  I would prefer to live in a cold climate.  There are several fascinating reasons for this.  A.  I’m not a bathing beauty.  B.  Wheelchairs don’t do well in sand or rocky coasts.  C.  Being a redhead, I don’t do tan.  D.  I like fireplaces, mountains, cuddling in front of a fire, and don’t forget the marshmallows!

2.  I have long hair, have had the 1960’s pixie cut, and everything in between.  To me long hair takes a lot less curling, fixing, etc, so I prefer it.  And it’s healthier now that I use no products except shampoo.

3.  Favorite month of the year is a tough one.  I guess it would be October when leaves are beautifully painted by Mother Nature.

4.  I can read till the cows come home but I need to be shown how to do something if it’s mechanical.  No comments, L!😂

I am very grateful that my (freshman year of college completed) granddaughter will be coming home Friday.  Can’t believe how fast that went.  Her older sister completed her junior year, yea! Bricks, I need bricks for all their heads!
I am looking forward to summer vacation for all the kids coming up soon.

Tell Me Something Good -May 1, 2017

💐🌸🌺🌼🌷🌻🌹🥀Happy May Day🥀🌹🌻🌷🌼🌺🌸💐

When kids were little this day was so much fun.  We gathered all the wildflowers and made baskets for the neighbors and secretly put them in their front door.  I wish this was done today.  However, this tradition would not include my upstairs neighbors today.

For the past two weeks I have been wakened at four-thirty by the (I can’t imagine why anyone would do this) high heeled boots worn by said neighbor as she endlessly clomps around above my head.  Seriously, how long does it take you to dress and make your bed?  This morning after the usual quiet period between two and four-thirty a.m. I was amazed to find a half hour of sleep around five. The rule is to be relatively quiet from ten p.m. to eight a.m. They’ve been nonstop playing? since four-thirty.

I didn’t think it was possible to bounce a bowling ball on a carpeted bedroom floor, but apparently it is.

After much deep thought, I’ve made up my mind how to cure this.  I’m going to commit “Murder Most Fowl”!  Yes, a tainted KFC chicken delivery.

Saturday Mix – The Painting

Walking around the art museum always calmed her and today she was in an odd mood. After speaking with her sister on the phone this morning, she was reminded of their childhood. The painting seemed to speak to her. The green lily pads covering the blue pond water took her back to the fun experiences with her sister. Like most children they loved the tiny frogs that sit on these flowers and sun themselves. Memories of those happy times flooded her mind. As she turned away from the painting, she was smiling.
