Initial sparks, into a slow burn
Grows into flames—
Love, of course.
Isn’t it always beginning this way?
The attraction sets a spark
Sweet words fan the embers and soon
Full fire mode.
Then it happens, one heart breaks.
We both end in ash.

Some relationships do seem to flare up and burn out in this way.

poignant, Cheryl… you know, I forgot where I first heard this idea, but it’s impossible to live our lives without hurting others at some points, somewhere along the way, unless we somehow literally avoid the entire world…

Oh, heartbreak. But some loves are slow burning, well banked fires. We can but hope.
