There are many artists and songs I love from my childhood on, about the West. It is an entirely different experience for anyone wanting to visit and it must be my father’s roots coming through, and my sisters have a longing to live there. I am the lucky one who actually does! My father was a rancher, horse breaker, sheep herder and more in his young days in Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota. Cowboy songs were sung as he played the banjo, fiddle or piano, not country, but cowboy songs. My choice is a favorite sung by Marty Robbins with his unique voice, “El Paso”.
