Young, what a word! Makes me feel older just writing it! You’re only as young as you feel, not my favorite saying, for sure! There’s young love, animal young, young adults, young cells, young trees. It’s a versatile word used to describe the youth or age of almost anything.
My mind isn’t as old as my body, hopefully never will be. If Alzheimer’s disease gets me, I hope I’ll turn into a carefree child, but we don’t really know what someone with A. feels or thinks, do we? Possibly trapped in a place and can’t figure how to get out? Torturous. Well on that happy note, here’s what dictionary.com has to say about young:
According to dictionary.com:
1.being in the first or early stage of life or growth; youthful; not old
2.having the appearance, freshness, vigor, or other qualities of youth
3.of or relating to youth: one’s young days
those who have youth; young persons collectively:the educated young of today; a game for young and old
young offspring: a mother hen protecting her young
with young :(of an animal) pregnant.
I saw a video of a Tiger giving birth to twin babies today. The first one took about three minutes to start breathing normally, but the mother kept trying and finally a squeak was uttered. The second came out fighting and pushing its tiny paws against mom, anxious to get out. I don’t know why it was important for me to share this, but it was inspirational to me. Life goes on. Thank heavens!
