Beckie’s Thankful and Grateful Topic

Sometimes it’s the little things I am grateful for–right now I am listening to the maintenance guys outside trying to clear the sidewalks after our foot plus of snow, and in freezing temperatures, they drone on even as snow falls around them.

These professions of labor are rarely thanked so I’m doing it now. The people who make your life easier every day; the grocer, the postmen, constables, firemen, the road workers, the trash collectors, all work for us to help and keep us safe. Take a minute to thank them. I’m sure they will be surprised!

Last night at two a.m. my (birthday boy) grandson snap chatted me, as he was working a snowplow in the dark, in minus two degree temperatures. Gotta love the work ethic of these people.🥰

Rory’s Really You #4

***

Do you believe things happen for a reason?

As in fate, the law of three, Murphy’s law? I guess my answer is no. It seems whatever and however you try, it ends up being “it is what it is”! Accept it, glean the good, forget the bad, and move on.

Have you ever been so hyper focused on something you lost complete track of time?

As we speak! I’ve been trying to change themes on my site and have been at it for two plus hours already and it’s still not right! I also admit to binge watching a series and do not realize the time spent. But in my defense, I live alone and it doesn’t really affect anyone but me.

What contributions can you make as an individual to be more environmental and or what have you made as contributions?

Not much really, I am sad to say. I don’t buy water in bottles which I think is a huge addition to destruction of the environment. I have glass bottles I fill with tap water and leave overnight in the fridge instead. I have recycled everything possible until last year when I found out here in Cheyenne it all goes to the dump, not a recycle center. I pay bills by phone and EFTs to reduce paper waste. I try not to buy anything with lots of packaging but really, it’s not even a drop in the bucket.

FOWC: Wage

So much for Mr. T and his wage of war on the American justice system. Today it’s one loss and a tie. One brave judge said, No, Mr. president, you are not king! And as of this writing another brave judge supported ordinary citizens of the United States by standing up to the would be king, while our Supreme, (and I use that term loosely) Court cowers, putting off a decision to force him to show his taxes, as all other citizens are required. How are they Supreme when they can’t stand up for the Constitution? Mr. T is not king, he’s a citizen just like you and me.

MLMM Photo Challenge

I guess I’ll give up. I am tired of course, but it seems I’m never doing the right thing. I can’t be everywhere at once and I’m too small. I was only supposed to be a book light. I was made in this design to encourage children to read. Oh well, I’ll just rest here a bit hoping another curious child will pick me up to “secretly” read a book under their covers at night.

Tuesday Writing Prompt

***

Thanksgiving here in Wyoming will be an adventure for those who travel to be with loved ones. Today we are under a huge mountain of snow and the city of Cheyenne is basically closed! Interstates and highways are closed around us, but our family group is close by and we’re thankful always for that.

Scrapers and shovels on windows and stairs

Snowplows working tirelessly on thoroughfares

As for me, it’s hot coffee and blanketed feet

I might make cookies just for a treat

Snow days are fun unless you have to get out

But kids build snowmen and play and shout

I wish I were able

I’d make a snow angel.

Ewwwww, Rant

Yes, it’s a big figure because it’s more than frustrating. I had to delete my app and of course it went from this:

To this when I tried writing to support:

To deleting the app. All drafts lost, except they weren’t drafts, they had been published, or so I thought. Looked the same through a browser. I had a couple of stories, and a good poem which was written on my emotions so can’t be repeated as I’d like, so I am beyond frustrated.

As soon as I write anything I publish it. The only prescheduled post is Movie Monday and that’s not every time. The first response I got from contacting them by email was sort of a smartass comment–well you published one six hours ago (movie Monday)? I wrote back explaining that was prescheduled two days beforehand. No response from them.

I had written the now missing ones, published I thought, and left the house. Checked in later to find them sitting there with a message saying they couldn’t be published because I wasn’t connected to the internet, but I was connected! I wrote them an email saying that and finally heard from them today but no help. I wish I had screenshot the poem. Then a little later I couldn’t see them, only what the first figure shows above. Ewwww!

There’s never an We’re sorry, how can we help, etc. Tonight I’m feeling my age, not a nice feeling.

Monday Movie

I was looking for something funny and liked the actors, so turned on “Daddy’s Home 2”, starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. hadn’t seen the first one, but Sean Anders also directed “Instant Family ” which I enjoyed and I took a chance. I was laughing out loud! One of my favorite parts was the snowblower scene. I love comedy, slapstick and chain reaction sequences, so it fit the bill.
