dVerse Poets – Concentration Camp

No one left and no one came on the bare platform. Many years ago, it was a sad and dangerous place to stand. No one wanted to be there, everyone squashed together watching helplessly as the children were wrestled from their parents and grandparents were shoved in another direction.

The feeble and sick were immediately pushed into a separate platform. All had heard the rumors and the uniforms in charge were proving them to be true. Everyone was holding each other as belongings were ripped away and thrown into bins to be collected and sorted later. Anything of value was confiscated.

It seemed hell had opened up and the faithful and faithless were all together, some murmuring prayers to their gods. It seemed they weren’t looking down on them in those days, keeping them safe, answering prayers lifted for help, compassion. Not those days.

MLMM Wordle –

Her bright gold fingernails were a stark contrast to the worn brown leather part of the suitcase. As she sat on the bench with hands planted on the valise, my curiosity was raised as there must be something valuable inside. The rainy train station was dismal and only a few of us had chosen to stay outside.

An old man sitting on the last bench, probably a daily visitor to watch the travelers, was tossing bread crumbs to a determined pigeon pecking at his boots. A distant rumble informed us the train was approaching and as I looked back to the girl, she had moved to the edge of the platform holding her ticket.

The carriage came to a noisy stop and the girl pushed aside anyone ahead of her as if a force majeure was pushing her onward. Holding the case tightly to her body, I wondered what important secrets it held.

What Day is it? 4-13-20

Fresh out of the shower and when I say fresh, it’s 20F and snow coming again. I’m late posting this because I texted with my son who moved to France. They are in Paris and doing well, quarantined so house hunting and all necessary paperwork delayed. They are staying healthy, and that is the important thing!

It’s pretty quiet here in Cheyenne. I seem drawn to news reports that make me angry, so I try, I say try. . .to stay out of it. A few days ago I was woken by what must have been a military convoy–trucks and constant line–about three in the morning. Traffic here is scarce so I have no idea what it was about and of course no news concerning it. Maybe aliens actually caused the virus and they are all being secretly hoarded into bunkers in the mountains. . .it’s Wyoming, it could happen!

As you can see, nothing newsworthy here. I feel for the medical people and the delivery persons and wish them well and a huge thank you.

Stay well!🥰

Law and Order – Lenny Briscoe

Forced to find something to watch on tv, old Law and Order episodes with Jerry Orbach as Detective Lenny Briscoe were my favorites, and now hearing, seeing ads for the show, they often have his wittiest lines in them. If I have the tv on and hear one, it always makes me laugh. Here are a few, probably not the best:

Apparently most of his funny lines were ad libs when the cast gathered to rehearse lines for the show. The writers left them in. A great character to be remembered.
