Block the Block

I tried to reblog this post from Cyranny with no results, either from email or the reader.😳🙄. Here is a copy and paste version:

Dear Lovelies…

Like me, you have probably noticed the following, when you engaged into publishing a new post, recently:

I shuddered at the thought of having to use the new WordPress ”block” editor. I have flirted with it, out of curiosity, and I find it unnecessarily complicated. I know I would get used to it, but I consider that I shouldn’t have to. What will come next, imposed themes, because WordPress says so? (Exagerating here, I know… But still…)

I am especially shocked that I have to change my blogging ways, since I pay for my blogs. Not that I think that people who blog on free sites should be at WP’s mercy, but I am the customer here… Right?

It is pretty obvious to me that many of you share my angst when thinking about June 1st.I’m reading more and more posts of people mentionning that they don’t want to switch to the block editor.

Some of you think that even after being forced to go to ”block”, we’ll have the choice to switch back. I so hope you’re right. But a little voice in the back of my head is telling me that once we’re all on the new boat, WP will try to keep it that way.

So why not just speak up?

You might remember the Tygpress incident we went through in August of last year… Many of us thought that our voice could never be strong enough to shut a website stealing all of our posts down. Still, we did it… Together.

Together is a strong thing.

I don’t mean to plot a coup d’état against WordPress… I love WordPress, and I am sure the block editor was meant as a cool change. But if we don’t want that change, why not say so?

Believe me, if you like the new way, I’m glad for you… But if you don’t, speak up, say so in the comments below, and share this with your readers. If we stand together, we might get a guarantee that there will be a choice for all of us bloggers.

I love the pic of the seal she included! I have enough trouble with WP as it is and I’m sure you will agree as you read my posts, sometimes presented the way I want, others haphazard. Im an old dog and I can learn new tricks but this is one I would not like to try.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 5-23-20

Cautionary power, he’s never heard of it

He wields the sword thinking he’s above it

Laws and lies mean the same thing

It’s one of those “Because I know” things

Problems arise because of this

He ignores and says all is bliss

People keep dying in huge amounts

While he speechifies from his mount.

Perplexed

It doesn’t take much to be perplexed

My brain is often easily vexed

Lately it seems my attached noggin

Is refusing to let the rest of me log in

It’s not what authors say–writers block

It’s not the result of a fall or a knock

It is quite a numbing perturbance

From all of this virus disturbance

What, where, if and when

Is this sickness going to end?

MLMM First Line Friday 5-22-20

“Someday, this will be over– only remembered like some half-felt and fading nightmare.”

These were Joe’s thoughts as he trudged along the sidewalk holding onto his walker. Another trip to the pharmacy for his medicine, only these days he was in riot gear. A heavy plastic mask, plastic gloves and layers of washable jeans and coat to be sanitized when he arrived back home.

Joe was still a viable gentleman for his ninety years and insisted on living alone downtown and using his walker to get anywhere. If it wasn’t within walking distance, he didn’t need it.

The door was held open for him by the medical guard at the entrance who nodded hello. “Just living the dream, eh Joe?” Their eyes showed their smiles.

Fandango’s Friday Flashback 5-22-20

WORDLE -#156 – Biometrics Class

He was aware of his oscilant behavior while trying to focus on straightening his vertebra in the student chair. This was a tough class and trying to concentrate and catch every nuance of the instructor was difficult. His tendency to doze after an all-nighter was evident as his head kept trying to nod. Straightening himself in the desk, trying to reform his body into an assumed position of attention, he feared the next question would be asked of him.

Uncanny as it may seem, he was thoroughly aware of this strand of Biometrics. He enjoyed studying the topic and even though the instructor barrel eyed his nodding pate, he was capable of answering any query put to him–as long as he could stay awake and not collapse from exhaustion.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt

Knee deep in series on my iPad

Think I may be going mad

I’m watching too much crime and gore

I’ve started shouting to the screen and more

My sleep filled nights are full of dreams

Of words and mysteries and schemes

This seems to be an overwhelming mess

I hope it’s only isolation stress.

Recluse

“…[T]here really is no valid excuse for an able-bodied person going out
of his head from being bewildered in the big woods so long as he has a
gun and ammunition, or even a few dry matches and a jackknife.” This was the daily stated philosophy of Junior Beets, a devil may care recluse in the backwoods of Utopia.

Junior was getting tired of the backpackers traveling more frequently around his self proclaimed property.

Of course Junior had no rights concerning the surroundings of his area which was a world designed park in 2025.

Utopia was designed by the desperate survivors of the corona virus that wiped out ninety percent of the world population by 2023.

Junior Beets decided guns would ensure his privacy and started hoarding them in 2020.
