Fandango’s Friday Flashback 8-28-20

From 2018:CODDIWOMPLE JOURNEY

His outing cut short
As he exclaimed this retort
To his mother who scolded
“Come back as you’re tolded”
“My tricycle’s wobbly, and
I’ll fall, probly”!
And that’s just what he did.
With two knees skid.

A slight bit of poetic license used.

Fandango’s Friday Flashback — August 28

MLMM Tale Weaver 8-27-20

In these days of isolation

There is a compensation

Staying together as a family

Listening and learning how they be

No need to rush to some other place

Jumping here and there to race,

But tranquil bodies in this place

Sitting calm around a fireplace.

***

My daughter and family’s home has a gas firepit in their backyard and it is heavenly to sit around it at night.

“It’s nothing, I promise you,” he offered.

“No need to have that look of pity on your face, George. Your habit of looking at me like that makes me ashamed of who I am. On the inside, I’m just the same as everyone else!”

Word of the Day: Tittynope

First, I have never heard this word before and have to congratulate Cyranny for coming up with it! And I’m not telling where my mind went when I first read it. Turns out it is perfectly mild.😄

***

I boiled the water, was in a hurry

Company coming, had to scurry

Poured the hottest water from the tap

Burner set on high, kettle spout flapped

It was chilly, I wanted it hot

Knowing coffee would hit the spot

Opened the coffee tin, only a tittynope

Forgot to reorder, I’m such a dope!

Summer Evening

***

Nine pm and the train whistle sounded low and longing again. Sitting in the porch swing, she remembered past days of summer nights when the neighborhood kids gathered to play kick the can in the street. The nine o’clock freight train whistle meant it was time to pack up and go home. She felt a comforting smile knowing her grandchildren kept the tradition.
