MLMM Wordle – 4-20-21

Although a specious display, the Jaguar entered the drive with a reckless amount of speed. Gravel thrown askew as it roared to a stop just shy of my companion. We were leaving the restaurant to join another dull meeting of office personnel when the driver stepped out of her vehicle.

The colorful Bohemian styled woman would have raised anyone’s deepest desires, but my companion halted, seemingly mesmerized. Her long free flowing hair brushed aside by a slender brown arm as she passed closely by him with a knowing wink of her black eyelashes and a smile that made his blood plummet into familiar regions.

I took his elbow as he seemed in a collapsible state. His mind seemed to be continually occupied during our afternoon meeting, possibly dreaming of a kiss from the ethereal woman.

Humph!

The past enjoyment of having a meal delivered has now turned into a grim reality and is getting to me. A simple order from a restaurant arrived Saturday and fragrant hot beef and broccoli with rice filled the air. Of course the delivery person left it at the door and drove away. It took a minute to get the bag open since it was “sealed for my protection” and I found it was missing two spring rolls, my favorite! Clearly paid for on the attached receipt, so why are they missing?

Food delivery used to be a treat once or twice a month, but all the previous fun is gone. Grocery delivery is hit and miss at best and my brain is starting to sizzle!

😒😒😒

The Sunday Whirl 4-18-21

Exercising his arm in preparation, Joe moved it around, applying pressure on his elbow for a good stretch. Any pain the anti-virus shot caused would soon drift away. It was just a precaution and he took it secretly from the rest of the group. His companions all gathered around the old cabin’s hearth, rambling on about how to design the fuse to the powder.

Joe was to be the deliverer of the bomb as he had planned from the start when the first flicker of the plan was discussed in FBI headquarters. Being an undercover agent infiltrating this group of wannabe militants was Joe’s current assignment. This night he was primed to spring into action as other agents were secretly on the prowl outside the group’s location.

Huddled in conversation, the fireplace roaring, Joe gave a signal and the teargas containers started to fly into the cabin. Another violent act deterred, Joe thought–just another day at the office.

Sunday is supposed to be relaxing, isn’t it?

No need to prevaricate today. I just made the biggest drastic mistake I’ve made in years. Apparently I have abandoned any reasonable focus on the task at hand – laundry – and lost all perspective as I ended up packing my iPhone in the washer with said laundry.

As you might know I use a wheelchair and scooter, and the scooter has a basket which carries my cel phone at all times in case my clumsiness ends me unexpectedly on the floor or cement, which has happened a few times. But I digress. . .After my shower I had a few clothes to add to the washer so put them in the basket–mistake number one–to carry to the washer. Unknowingly I picked up the phone along with the clothing and threw it all in the wash–mistake number two.

Hearing a slight clunk after it started, I checked, couldn’t see anything, so shut the door and it started again–mistake number three.

Fixed coffee and went to grab my phone to read blogs, and noticed it was nowhere to be seen. PANIC! Put the scooter in rabbit mode–mistake number four–and practically rammed the washer! Clicked the off button, waited and got a bucket to take out soaked clothes and. . .my phone.😳🤯

I grabbed a towel and took off the protective back case and it looked completely fine. I shook it, tapped it and dried as much as possible. I’ve never had an iPhone and my other android phones I could dismantle easily. The iPhone, not! I broke two fingernails trying to get it apart to dry out the inside, no luck. I grabbed a loaf pan and rice and immersed the phone in rice. It still was looking fine and working so maybe no damage done?🥸

Of course my whole family is away this weekend so I can’t ask them to help. I checked google and all directions for removing an iPhone 7+ back are too difficult and require a set of special tools? Yikes. If the rice doesn’t work, I am keeping my fingers crossed the iPhone case is as “waterproof” as the ad says it is.

Eugi’s Weekly Prompt – Reflections

Reflections to digest hoping for a chance to be astonished as I see myself in younger days. Turning the pages of a lifetime, seeing how time has passed and the need to capitulate to memories now seen as facts in black and white.

O is for old ways many still use today–some good, some should have never been used in the first place.

One is the prevalence of guns used to get what you want or what you think you deserve, as an individual or group. The horrible mash of violence in our country resembles a past older people like me hoped to forget is on the forefront every day.

Guns speak for these misguided or ignorant people now–they don’t want a solution or compromise. They don’t want to solve what they perceive as a problem in their small world, they just want to act out and they’ve been acting out with increasingly violent results.
