Gold Digger

My luxuriant approach deceiving

My appearance may be misleading

Never showing my quirky sides

Allowing all of them to hide

While portraying a wealthy bloke

So the decisive “yes” you spoke

Maintains my exuberant style of life

It’s all I need in a wife.

MLMM Wordle #257

I hope, not pretend, sitting here, quieting my tongue, basking in the luminous shine of a warm sun, when my thoughts mix an elixir. Maybe this will lead to the crumbs of proprioception left in my limbs and rejuvenate them to action. The original cicatrix remains, but a wish can last a lifetime.

The Sunday Whirl

Even with a line of candlelight, kneeling down on dewy green carpets, touching the living land, my tears come. The wheels of autumn start to roll in, dispensing cool air to dry flowers, and curl brilliant colored leaves for first snowflakes. It is never too late to worship Mother Nature and appreciate the timing of seasons.

Computer Muggles** Unite!

I finally bit the bullet and clicked the 17 “update all”s on my iPad since I’ve been having a few problems with some apps. Wow!

My WP app has changed the reader and my email notices so you may not be getting my comments or likes. My ancient yahoo email just updates frequently without my permission, which is always frustrating.

I wonder who sits in a cubicle somewhere, surrounded by their favorite funky pop characters, cold pizza and dry Starbucks coffee cups, beady bloodshot eyes and wicked grin, seeing how much chaos they can cause with their sticky keyboard.

Maybe it’s time for a new protest group comprised of people like me who are tired of trying to comply to what seems like newly structured formats every five minutes.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Shuffling in line to the sound of chains

Dignity no longer remains

The line shifts with each step

Familiar cadence with sideways rep

Each man jostled by sticks with jolts

Iron doors are closed by bolts

A daily trip to the yard

Never scrivened by a bard

Tiring routines are the norm

No expectations form

Do the crime and

You do the time

Singsong words by judging men

Some innocents remember when

They thought their truth would win

Now they too are shufflin’.

Where were you on 9/11? I remember it well. I was in an apartment in downtown Houston, close to the Galleria. My husband and I were getting ready to take our Shih Tzu to a vet appointment. We had the news on the tv while dressing and then the bulletin. We were incredulous but immediately thought terrorism, not an accident or pilot error. Even today twenty years later I cannot watch the videos of it. I still hear the bodies landing on pavement behind reporters’ cameras. I will not look at the memorial site. If I watch a movie that shows the NYC skyline before this tragedy I fast forward. I still can’t deal with it.

MLMM First Line Friday – Missing Mom

The box provided a sturdy ship as long as it remained on dry land. Any pirate has to wear the tricornered hat and an eyepatch fulfills the image. Even these accoutrements supplied by friends did not assuage his feelings. He made a rolled up brown paper scope to better his vision. Tristan would search the area every day, from now on, sitting here waiting for his mom to show herself on the horizon. A tear would come he tried to ignore, because he was a pirate, of course.
