Mother Knows Best – at least in this situation.

Traveling the Texas panhandle, the overview was bleak. Looking forward to seeing my Colorado home again, the driver took it upon himself in an egregious effort to maintain his fake driving superiority. Trying to impress my daughter with his prowess at map reading, went off the planned route and we found ourselves lost.

We were driving straight through from Houston to Montrose, Colorado supposedly on our well used route, but ended up in Oklahoma. Since I was the previous driver I was napping in the back when this idiot took the wheel. Even though it added hours to the trip, he defended his route was better in a boisterous manner. The temporary boyfriend relationship ended next morning. He was way too old for my daughter anyway.

Fandango’s Friday Flashback

MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt – Love Flowers 7-2-17

It seems so simple at the start. A chance meeting on a social site, a play of words between two lonely people. It is disguised as a fun interlude, passing the time to dispel the humdrum of the necessary parts of life.

This is the intent, starting out with flirtatious innuendos, nervous laughter, and then it happens. The more serious side, being needy and expressing thoughts and hopes of a deeper connection. Almost an addiction results. Love poems, flowers, more secretive meetings, all in the name of love.

It seems safe at the start. Anything can be written or said if not actually face to face. Is this the problem or the saving grace for two people who think they are in love?

Poems, stories, books, cinema, plays, all the greatest authors have written volumes about it. Psychologists and philosophers think and teach and even preach about it. Does anyone really understand it?

What makes two people who never see each other, never really meet, fall in what they think is love? Is it possible to meet a soulmate through a screen, or phone? If the answer is clear, why isn’t there a book written on this phenomenon, a guide book instructing people on how to act or what to say or what not to do? Is it because everyone no matter who they are or where, what their situation is, crave love, and seek it, even remotely? There are no clear answers.

Rules😳

I always get a laugh out of the complex’s yearly private pool rule warnings. Why even go there? You would think small children were going to stir up a cauldron of mischief and adults would not have a prayer of enjoying themselves in the cool water. Of course no one is allowed to have a cocktail such as a cosmopolitan while watching their children play – all to allay any fun at all, so why bother? It would be more fun to set up a baby pool on your “spacious” 8×8’ patio —oh I forgot, that’s not allowed either.🙄😅

Cyranny’s 1MinFic 6-30-21

Stepping into the street, Sara found it an eerily calm place. Cars all parked, no one walking their dog or kids playing. It was all too quiet for a summer evening. Suddenly a voice yelled out, “what, are you nuts? It’s 110 degrees out there! Get off the pavement before your sneakers melt! Honestly, young people these days. . .mutter mutter mutter.”
