“As I ruminate on your latest adventures, Simon, I need to mention that you remind me of my younger days. It is no surprise to me, being my only son, that the tohubohu caused by your extreme impetuous behavior is now haunting my own sordid memories.”
“The lady in question certainly was bathing nude in the river water, but the angle of your unwanted caress was uncalled for. You should have stayed onshore and secretly observed as any other “gentleman” would have done.”
“Now I learn of this shoddy encounter in the newspaper. As a result I have no choice but to clip your wings and kick you out of the university. As an alumni, I have no choice.”

Stepping off the hardened shore
Looking beyond, wishing for more
Something new, something daring
Tired of sickness, tired of caring
Sea salt lingers as waves roll by
Can’t help asking the why
Hoping an answer from a distant place
Will ease the mind with a sense of grace.

Summertime and the livin’ is…beautiful.
My favorite scene in “Life as we Know it” is in the grocery store. Take a break and enjoy this 2010 production.

A humble breath I take as the touch of simple fern fronds makes another summer day of joy. I need no crowd as the sun beams warm upon my hand and the bend of the green softness curls around my fingers. No written paper words can describe the feel, but as pine needles drift on the river that swallows another unmovable stone, I realize acceptance of nature.

I stand in awe of this old structure
remaining steadfast on a windy dusty prairie
while it’s only visitors are the occasional wild deer
or hungry hawk looking for any lower forms of residence–
there is only a ghost residing here
with fond memories.

She murmured “come in, take a seat”
My chin on the tile, my mood deplete
She asked “need a drink?” I could hardly resist
My body reclined under the elm branch twist
I needed her company, more than that even,
Feelings of sympathy in her ebony eyes seen
Friendship, and a word or two
Lightened my dark mournful mood.
