Anyone Who Had a Heart

Dionne Warwick and Burt Bacharach were a great combination for memorable songs. “Marie Dionne Warrick, known as Dionne Warwick, is an American singer, actress, television host, and former Goodwill Ambassador for the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization. Warwick ranks among the 40 biggest hit makers between 1955 and 1999, based on her chart history on Billboard’s Hot 100 pop singles chart.”

“Between 1962 and 1968, Warwick took a whopping 15 Bacharach/David songs into the Top 40.Apr 2, 2014”

Not Again!

Has anyone found they have to constantly re-sign into blogs to comment? I thought following by email would stop this but it is now a pita once again. Even after signing in again, writing a comment, I see the info is not automatically filled out under it. Even after signing in again to my blog name/WP, all my info needs to done again, repeated – not my cup of tea. Even then it sometimes does not show up. 😠If you have not received my likes or comments, let me know. It is certainly frustrating – a more than frequent word for me in the last two years🙄😵‍💫

Throwback Thursday Memory Bloghop

Learning to drive was not a pleasant experience in an old VW bug with my father as a teacher. Demanding and unforgiving were the rules of the day. High school driver training classes were fun, taught by the larger than life football coach. Between these two authorities I learned, or thought I did. The bug was a standard transmission and the high school car was an automatic.

For my state driver test I used the bug. I was fine until on a steep hill in town was told to stop the car. Traffic building up close behind me, kept my cool until I put in the clutch to start again. My seat suddenly unclicked and my shorter legs lost the pedals. The instructor put on the emergency brake but I couldn’t reach the pedals and panicked.

(After the uncomfortable teaching of my father who would yell “stop!” in the middle of an empty field and I should not have asked “why” results, the panic resulted. At least I feel he was partly to blame).

Panicked, but the instructor helped and said I passed. I never got into that bug again and did not do another driving test until five years later when married. Luckily, Houston driver tests do not include steep hills and with a standard transmission mustang, completed the test perfectly.

Of course I’ve had different cars and the standards are the most fun to drive I feel, with more control over the car itself. I can no longer drive because my legs don’t work, and I miss it very much.

Night Sounds

The Air Force helicopters are out, practicing night maneuvers over my head. Drifts of music invade my window from the bar a half mile away and I wonder if my new upstairs neighbor may be one of the band members. He’s quiet during the day, absent at night and today I heard him softly singing and playing a guitar—a very pleasant sound. The air conditioner units hum outside my bedroom window, but my apartment stays a cool 70 degrees without it. A rare fire truck siren sounds, trains in the depot always busy, emitting their lonesome whistle calls and life goes on in a small western city.

Fandango’s Story Starter #8

bent down for the last challenge. The 6000 pound barbell was the heaviest he attempted in the last week, but he grabbed hold, hoping for a new record and became a world champion.

The greatest weight ever raised by a human being is 6,270 lbs. in a back lift (weight lifted off trestles) by 364- lb. Paul Anderson (U.S.) (b. 1932), the 1956 Olympic heavyweight champion, at Toccoa, Georgia, on June 12, 1957.”Anderson was born in Toccoa, Georgia, the only son of Ethel Bennett and Robert Anderson. As a teenager, he began his early weight training and gaming on his own in his family’s backyard to increase his size and strength so that he would be able to play on the Toccoa High School football team, where he earned a position as first-team blocking back. He used special homemade weights that his father created out of concrete poured into a wooden form. Anderson attended Furman University on a football scholarship where he began lifting weights. He later moved to Elizabethton, Tennessee with his parents, where he met weightlifter Bob Peoples, who would greatly influence him in squat training and introduce him into weightlifting circles

The wordofthedaychallenge: kakorrhaphiophobia

I’m just putting this as a title so I don’t have to spell it again!😀

Joey was the age of ten

When deciding never to ride again

The bike he borrowed fell apart

He fell not injured but broke his heart

When all the guys with laughter pinned

Fears outed, he’s now chagrined.
