Word of the Day- Frankly

This phrase was quite controversial when Clark Gable uttered it in Margaret Mitchell’s screen adaptation of “Gone With the Wind” in 1939. Of course “bad” words have been used for eons but not in films for the general public.

MLMM Wordle #274

He wasn’t much of a conversationalist. Most of his ad-libs bordered on indiscriminate garble he intended to be off the cuff, but they knew the difference. Anything true he uttered was based on him staying in the middle, never trying to jiggle a vendors’ opinion. He could read their willingness to cooperate or not and knew how to press them into submission if they objected. No one on the street wanted to perish by not obeying the rules.

His fingertips fondled the apples in one grocer’s sidewalk fare, one by one, picked one up and chomped loudly. This action was a signal to the street vendors he wanted their cash quickly with no trouble. His employer had been fleecing the local vendors for years and DJ wasn’t about to cross him.

Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge

All gathered at the temple,
wanting to set a good example,
for the youth to choose the light,
choose their faith over might,
but soldiers seemingly prepared for death,
ignored memories told by elders’ breath,
traveled on to save the oppressed.

Fandango’s Story Starter

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

Eileen was hesitant to open the door leading up to the attic because she was afraid when she got up there she might find…

Some secrets her uncle had hidden. Suspicious of her uncle, who held the opinion the attic should be under guard because he was getting forgetful in his seventies. This was a curiosity to Eileen, even though he had been chosen to lead the country a few years before. However, the attic was hard to open without a special card key only her uncle held.

NPR news reported the next week what Eileen had found when she decided to pocket her uncle’s key card and investigate:

Fifteen boxes of White House records that should have been at the National Archives have been found at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property. Keeping the boxes there violates the Presidential Records Act

3TC – Online Groceries

https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2022/02/07/three-things-challenge-867/

On the great slate of things, I would rate my Walmart delivery service good. The people setting fragile bags of fruit on my doorstep are very good. I am reticent to swathe the shoppers of my grocery list in praise. I want them to check quality and freshness dates, is that asking too much? Apparently so.
