Fandango’s Who Won the Week – Dominique Claseman

“Pretty much it was either word-of-mouth or going door to door,” Claseman said.
But his methods worked. His community liked the idea of a veterans memorial so much that they were willing to donate much more than he expected.
When the fundraising ended, he’d raised exactly $77,777 for the project.

The finished memorial was unveiled to the public on Memorial Day. It features 280 engraved pavers leading to flag poles and places to sit, surrounded by landscaped plants.

Six Sentence Story

Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link up at Wednesday’s post. Link goes live at 6:00 pm through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers PROMPT WORD: SPACE

Just a Little Time to Myself

When I say I need space, I mean I need to be alone.

I will not answer any doors, also not my phone.

It seems to me that everyone should have this ability.

It is not meant to be rude, I do it just for me.

Alone time serves a purpose, makes my goals more clear.

Now please just let me to do my thing, my lover, always dear.

Simply Six Minutes

Some people told Joe he was crazy to work for old man Jones, but Joe ignored them. With no degrees or diplomas and a big family to support, Joe took whatever job he could find. No matter what Mr. Jones asked him to do, Joe did it.

Joe’s work ethic is rarely seen in these “me me me” days, but—a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do—was his attitude. Of course old man Jones knew this and took full advantage of Joe, watching him struggle with his bike full of bricks.

SoCS – Wallpaper

***

In 1972 we moved from TX to CO and the entire house was painted with coffee w/cream color. With three little kids, I repainted the whole thing in an off white because the carpet and curtains were boldly colored. We had three bathrooms and I wanted to make the one for the boys bright so we tried a stripe- never choose a stripe for an old house – it was a disaster and caused a thrown – not by me – measuring item to make a divot in the tile floor😂. Later we tore that out and put in a black and white funny cartoon wallpaper. We papered the kitchen in that home too. As a rule I think wallpaper is great for others but too much of a mess for me.

When we moved back to CO from TX in 2000 and were close to the grandkids I would “paper” our walls with drawings, finger paintings, and other media art they made. Creating anything and everything with them was the most fun!

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Share Your World – August 7, 2017 by rugby843

Monday again, time for ceenphotography.com ‘s SYW.  Take the time to join in and answer her questions every week so we can all get to know each other better.  Don’t worry, it’s a good thing!

1.  What was the last URL you bookmarked or saved?

I rarely bookmark anything. I try to keep my memory cache clear.

2.  Do you believe in the afterlife?  Reincarnation?

I guess my belief or hope actually, is that our spirit or lifeforce moves into another dimension of sorts?  I’m not afraid to find out.  Reincarnation?  I know many people believe this, to each his own.  Sometimes I think, how do I know that, or why is this so familiar?  So, who knows?

3.  If you were or are a writer, do you prefer writing short stories, poems, or novels?

I am not or never will be a writer. I’m more of a scribbler. I jot down something and hope someone thinks it’s okay to do so.

War Music

Joe’s part time passion was playing the drums. When he joined the orchestra, everyone knew the strings were the favorite but he liked joining in especially when the venue was the Fourth of July. Exceptional music followed with him striking the bass drum and using cymbals to emphasize parts of “Ride of the Valkyries” composed by Richard Wagner.
