Night

the vampire old
her blood is warm
his teeth are cold
the air is heavy this dark night
better to muffle her screams of fright

The Look
the typical haunt
an eerie glance so ghostlike
comes from my mirror

It’s the Big Things

“Well that’s just the frosting on the cake! I see evidence of the sweet sticky stuff everywhere and it all leads to you, Joey! Do you have any idea how long it took to decorate that cake?” Joey slunk down into a chair as he was relegated to the back of the room.
I had a photograph of the completed cake and presented it to the upset bride who only wanted to celebrate her wedding. All my artistic endeavors ruined, but it was necessary to calm down and continue with the festive occasion, sans cake.

Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge

This is exactly where I was last Sunday when she had the audacity to say I couldn’t be her boyfriend because I was “just a jock”. I was not as rude in telling her she was “just a cheerleader”.

SYW 10-10-2022

Can we really know everything? We can try but of course not.
Where were people before they were born? I doubt they were lying comfortably in a stork’s nest.
Does the Law of Attraction exist? I believe it does.
Do we love ourselves more in the virtual world and less in the real world? If so, why? If nay, why? I’m not in a virtual world, ever, but think people are generally happier there, thus the attraction of it.
Are you happy? If anyone says they are happy 100% of the time, they are lying. I am happy most of the time and choose it. Some days you have to choose, so choose well.

Fandango’s Who Won the Week?
My choice is MLB pitcher Joe Musgrove with his articulate after-game interview. You should skip to his presence in front of the press to see/hear his words.
NEW YORK — Through five innings in Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series on Sunday night, Joe Musgrove had limited the Mets to one hit. The Padres’ right-hander was as dominant as he’s been since he put pen to paper on a $100 million contract extension two months ago – an extension he signed with games like this in mind.
Like Action?
Try this one: “Live Free or Die Hard”. I liked the Justin Long character and of course Bruce Willis is McClane😀
Legend

There was a clear thread of pathway after the bridge. It was close enough to the start of “old ghost road” that even my bravado started to break into a sweat. Holding up his wrist to stop, Joe started to tell the mysterious legend. He knew of it because his father was a doctor also.
All I saw was a dilapidated shed, but there was a slight aura around it. I’d never seen an aura before and when acknowledging it, the howling began. Stepping closer together, waiting for whatever was next, Joe moved forward into the shed.
In the trees on the sides of the road that led to this site, glowing pairs of eyes watched, not in a menacing way, but as observers. Joe entered the shack and the howling stopped.
I waited anxiously outside the building and then Joe appeared holding something. It was a baby. A baby with a human mother that was protected by a family of wolves, the miracle. Joe helped save the child and the legend lives on.
