Rory’s Morning Dawdler

Have you ever learned to fight or taken self-defence lessons – why did you feel this was necessary or was this something that you wanted to know to feel safer? No, but always wanted to. When I used to walk with a cane I always had it at the ready😂

Do you spell grey as gray and also is it colour or color? Either is find with me. I had a friend in UK who I argued with about the u’s

Are you now or have you ever been afraid of the dark? No. When my friends and I were sleeping in the hay barn for a treat, it was scary because they kept showing their flashlight up on humongous hairy spiders in the rafters. Needless to say I didn’t stay long at the “party”!

Where do you prefer to do most of your clothing shopping – online or in-store? I hate buying clothes and do not like any online shopping at all. As Sadje said, I prefer feeling the cloth and seeing colors in person.

Thanks Rory for another fun prompt.

Dream Vacation

The travel guru stood on the hotel roof overlooking the beautiful scenery of the ocean. This was the view he had promised his clients and was excited, satisfied he had done well. Of course they were dubious at first, thinking the so called dream destination could be so perfect, but decided to take a chance. As he settled into the deck chair, the evening hush of the village below softened. He could hear a pin drop he thought as the business of the hotel below quieted. He was happy to enjoy this suggested vacation spot on his own.

MLMM Saturday Mix- Story Cubes

For this challenge, I will be using “Rory’s Story Cubes” to generate 9 random “ideas” for inclusion in your response. I use story cubes with my students at school and just like the lucky dips from our childhood, you never know what you’re going to get! You need to use oa minimum of 5 cubes, or for an extra challenge, try and use all 9. The cubes can be interpreted any way you like and for your response it is your choice to use poetry or prose.

The Princess Act

feeling previously like a chess piece

at least now she was the queen

sought her royal rose in the mirror

starting her early morning preen

she had signed the book willingly

and from what so far she’d seen

the bight was cast, she’d make it work

a chance that fit in with her needs

life had not been easy, but this rainbow now appeared

she’d be the best example, being what a queen means

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

When I think of this word, I think about an ancient black and white filmed movie, where an older man with a white beard, glasses down on his nose, a cigar hanging from one hand, the other arm raised defiantly and the word below, since there’s no sound, reads “preposterous”! That aged me a bit, eh?😂 Those old days of cinema required much more animation on the actors’ part because there were no spoken inflections.

SoCS /JuJoJa 7

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “out of the box.” Write about the first thing that comes to mind when you think “out of the box.” Enjoy!

The older you get the harder it is to think outside the box

You tend to think of all the hard knocks

But for each of those there’s always one better

‘Cause you overcame and learned to weather

Problems, sad notes—symphonies of life are not just noise

But beautiful music, remembering the laughter and joys

two grandmothers had I

beautiful but opposite women

one blonde with tanned wrinkled skin

from prairie life on a ranch

one pale skinned with raven hair

quiet and more subdued

lucky me had them both close in my younger years

young children rarely appreciate their presence until they become one themselves

becoming a grandmother causes surprising overwhelming love that covers you.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Just Jot It- 01-06-17-Tangible

First thing that came to mind was my grandson, my dear sweet chauffeur, C. Only seventeen and wise already, but always short on cash! His tangible assets from working are banked and therefore when needing something quickly, I get a visit…..”got a couple dollars for gas?” Or, “want lunch today?” (Meaning of course that he wants lunch.) Kids these days….it’s like they never heard of peanut butter and jelly! JK…Seriously, they’ve eaten plenty, and I mean plenty of that. It’s what happens when you have eight kids to feed every day, three meals a day. Mostly I’m kidding around. I rely on him to pop in and visit, and sometimes he brings friends I love to meet. I am blessed to have him.

Note: Before I looked for an old post to put on this prompt , it was weird because C came over to my home today to help me figure out a problem on my tv. on his day off. He is 23 and still a very sweet guy💓
