SoCS

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: ends with “ound.” Find a word (or words) that ends with “ound” and use it any way you’d like.

Using words with “ound”

There’s a lot hanging around

Forget about ones like wound

With double usages that astound

Making you utter unpleasant sounds

In for a penny, in for a pound

With SoCS you’re never bound

To follow rules that sometimes confound

And you might even write something profound!

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS April 13, 2024

Thanks!!⚽️🏅⚽️

Thanks to all who voted for our athletes at South High school. The girls took the 1-0 victory and played another highly rated team with a 0-0 ending score. They are pumped at being considered a worthy opponent in a district of three competing schools plus being the lowest thought of. They are an example of hard teamwork paying off. Today is another highly rated school match but South girls varsity soccer is getting ready to be victorious again.

At this rehab center Wi-Fi is blooey. Thankfully the staff are all excellent and I’m going home on the 14th. Yea🥳

MFFFC – Choices

We all make choices in our life. Not every decision affects another life. A woman who decides to have a child makes that commitment for life, to love and care, protect and advocate for that new life. In today’s world some women’s choices have been diminished and choices are no longer available in many areas. I do not consider that a fair way for women to live, and because men don’t have those tough decisions to make, I do not believe they should be able to take away choices for women. JMO.

Fandango’s Story Starter

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

When the song started playing on the radio, Vince stopped what he was doing and began to cry. His whole plan had gone to crap, the car, the roadblock, the storm, and he wished he had just used a gun! It all started when his best friend Jake started flirting with his wife at the neighborhood New Year’s Eve party. Jake asked Vince’s wife to dance to “Are You Lonesome Tonight” with Elvis Presley. He saw his wife responding warmly and a wariness began. Over the next month he noticed the two would be gone to some activity at the same times. More time passed and Vince’s wife became less interested in spending time with him.

His plan began to take shape. A heavy snowstorm was predicted so he loaded some sawhorses in his pickup and a couple of flares. Knowing the route Jake and his wife would take, he set up the roadblock complete with bright flares. This would cause them to take a side road that was closed a mile down because of the storm. Vince also tinkered with his wife’s brakes so she would not be able to navigate the side road well. The snow was really turning heavy and Vince just sat at home waiting for the police to call with the bad news. After an hour or two, the phone rang and it was his wife asking to be picked up at the garage. She had called a tow truck after she chose the side road detour and ended up in a snow bank. Vince wisely turned around at the roadblock and went home safely. Suddenly the radio began playing that lonesome song.

Joe planned everything right down to the sexy words scrabble game. He was feeling happy as he packed the tidy picnic basket with a few fun items.

As Joe parked the car near the park entrance he noticed quite a large gathering of vehicles and noisy kids running around. His girlfriend came out of the group, grabbed his arm and said “I wanted to surprise you so you could meet my family!”

Joe’s heart sank. He quickly threw the picnic basket he brought into his trunk, and joined the celebration. It was his girlfriend’s dad’s birthday! It was definitely not the private lunch he had planned but he put on a smile and walked with her.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

The Fortune Teller by rugby843 – September 2018

Fortune Teller Room by rialynkv on DeviantArt

“Come in, my dear. Oh, him? He’s perfectly harmless, besides he’s old, no longer has teeth. I have collected many items over the years, from clients without money.” The young woman hestitated before sitting at the table, which held a crystal ball, candles, and a dark starry shawl covering.

“What may I help you with, child?” The saddened girl spoke her dilemma, recently been diagnosed with a serious illness, wanting to know how long she would live. “What gift did you bring”, as she took the girl’s palm.

The young woman could offer no compensation. “Well, then, my dear, not long”.
