SYW 4-15-24

1. Regardless of whether you had them or not, can you remember three popular toys from when you were a child? Not really. I loved being outdoors and didn’t have toys as such.

2. Did you ever want something specific as a child, but never had it? Of course! I wanted a black and white pony with a red saddle.

3. Do you still have any toys or games from your childhood? No. I remember I had a small red rocking chair – kid size, but have no idea what happened to it.

4.  I think I’ve asked this before, but what was your favourite toy as a child? My swing which hung from a big oak tree in my yard.

I am very grateful to be home and able to sleep in my own bed! I do miss the people at the rehab facility, but we all wanted to be home. I start PT with a home health person tomorrow…wish me luck!

dVerse Poets Quadrille Monday

Just pen us a poem of exactly 44 words (not counting the title), including some form of the word Friday. Post your poem on your own blog, and link up using the Mr. Linky below.

Remembering when a workin’ stiff
Friday was the day that lift(ed)
Spirits all around the cubes
Especially with all the dudes
Friday was a chance to amuse
Girls who eyed them at the water chiller
And might think of them as a datable thriller.

Quadrille #199: T.G.I.F.

What day is it anyway?

This is a sort of prompt started by Lindaghill.com of the famous one-liner Wednesday and SOCS. To me it’s a sort of space where you can write anything you want, rant, complain ask for help etc.

(I have written this three times and half of it disappears each time🙄😫)

I was in the pharmacy line at Walmart today waiting for my prescriptions, and this guy was ahead of me. Beside him was another older man who had a Glock on his left side and a huge knife on his right side. Two older men that were waiting in line behind me said to me, “What is this the OK corral? I haven’t seen guns like this since Mr. Dillon”

So if you decide that you want to rant a bit have at it. I think Linda enjoys those quips. And have a nice evening and don’t play with guns.

Six Sentence Story – Core – maybe TMI for young ones

***

This word core has a special meaning the last two and a half weeks. “This will give you strength in your core” the physical therapist says as you are holding weights above your head and the guy across the table who looks like ex-military, is stretching up high. I told him he was a show off.

“I don’t have a core “ I said, “I’ve been in this wheelchair 14 years and now all I have is a big blob between my boobs and my legs”. No one looked very amused as they were struggling to hold up the weights also. I’ve discovered all kinds of new muscles or lack thereof during my stay at this rehabilitation center.

MLMM Saturday Mix

Welcome to the Saturday Mix – No Nonsense, 13 April 2024!
You will be given a nonsensical, made-up word. You will need to come up with your own definition and use it creatively and in context, in your response. It is your choice whether you write using poetry or prose.

Your nonsense word this week is: “preadepoute”. Remember, define it; then use it!

Preadepoute: Otterlike creature with long snout

***

It seems they have snuck back again

We thought they’d all disappeared and then

A long sharp nose peered out a crack

Someone screamed, “they’re back!”

I’m usually not one to criticize

But this animal’s not easy on the eyes

The body has long fur wildly sticking out

But the worst part is the long pointed snout

It gets into places it shouldn’t be

Too bad it doesn’t live in a tree

Instead it wanders into places

Even chain link fences save no graces

Chickens, cows and even pigs

Won’t dance its friendly jigs

Therefore he is a lonely sort

At least that’s what the geese report.
