I even felt blood start to burn

Attraction first with his very presence

There was no ignoring his essence

Then quietly ardor started to drizzle

Sadly, the love affair just fizzled.

This week for Sunday Confessionals, I would like you to create about this sentence : “The last time we were online”. The last time we were online would not be about me. I live alone and do plenty of researching online about many things. If I see or hear a word or phrase I don’t recognize, I look it up. I love looking things up, maybe I should have been a researcher or a journalist, or reporter. Honestly, journalist was one of my three career choices as a high school student. Instead I ended up in a permanent job for the federal government in a research facility. Long story short—which is definitely a rare occurrence—I fell in love and married at nineteen. That fact is also an explanation of my many forlorn victims of love in my writings. So confession made. See you around the watercooler☺️

ancient recipe
handed down secretly
a hope, a wish, come true
she offers up ingredients
for a dream or two
a pinch of fantasy
a dash of bravery
maybe a hero too
a smidgeon of danger
a quest to be found
and love—
need at least a pound
mixed in an iron pot
stirring all together
hoping her efforts will be caught
by the ancient deities
and gods of love she sought
she knows not of her beauty
or how a prince could think
so used a potion for love here
she did not know love was always near
when he felt the spirit
he visited her at once
he too had been searching
now both can end their hunt.

The bakery was forbidden

On a diet Jim thought insane

Thinking of apple turnovers

His attitude was plain

He just needed the money

Asked his wife so dear

She answered “honey,

They’re not good for you I fear.

The doctor said you need to watch your weight!”

And that is when Jim’s wife became his late.
