Soft light enters now
warming the green leaves
into fiery reds
golden edged coppers
browns with yellow streaks
pathways are littered
with beautiful leaves

W3 Prompt #115: Wea’ve Written Weekly

I was in a hurry, like every day this summer. It just seems vacation is another word for busy! I was running to the car and my dad is already sitting in the front seat, engine running and yelled “Morgan! Why are you always the last one to get in the car? Hurry up, we’re going to be late!” I yanked open the backseat door and threw my backpack down over my feet, where it was joined by my two brothers’ packs. It was only when we arrived at the school fair I realized I only had one shoe on!

Moonwashed Weekly Prompt – Eventide glow

“Threads of feelings” woven laboriously into daily life
Bright red strings of joy in binding
Sewn sunny yellow seen in children’s laughter
Long lavender stitches of grandma’s stories
Blue cords throughout when days are melancholy
Purple passion pieces placed here and there
Orange lengths woven from sunset and sunrise
Pink yarn spotted from young women’s secrets
White threads in small bows join together this life quilt.

Summer evening thunderstorms—bright lightning streak flares
Wind chimes sound loud furious warnings
Cicadas and crickets suddenly quiet as the storm rages
Rain has turned the thermostat to minor heat
Morning greets the summer butterflies with soft sun.

I grew up eating from a vegetable garden full of what some you probably don’t like, but I still love:
Spinach, greens of any kind, beets, potatoes, peas, carrots, corn, sweet potatoes, green beans, pole beans, any kind of beans, really, lettuce varieties, tomatoes, all types, peppers, turnips, squash, all kinds, cauliflower, parsnips, radishes, Brussels sprouts, cabbages, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, celery, asparagus, and probably others I don’t remember. Any of these your favorites?

“Hours before the meeting with the CBC, Biden sent a letter to congressional Democrats warning that any efforts to persuade him to step aside were a distraction from the critical mission of defeating Trump.”
“The question of how to move forward has been well-aired for more than a week now. And it’s time for it to end,” he wrote. “We have one job. And that is to defeat Donald Trump. We have 42 days to the Democratic convention and 119 days to the general election. Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us.”
I agree.
This week’s Story Starter teaser is:
With her tables, charts, and calendars spread out on the table in front of her, the astrologer looked up at Eleanor and said, “Your past, present, and future are about to collide.”
“What? I must have really goofed up with that last spell! I don’t understand it! I just used a tiny bit of the future, a smidgen of time travel, and a pinch of memories! What could possibly have gone wrong?”
The astrologer put her head down on the table, saying, “I’m getting too old for this sh-t!”
