I can’t keep quiet anymore. This whole Los Angeles business is making me angry. Sending our neighbors and friends who are in the National Guard or Marines into the situation where they are put in the of quelling these riots that were started as peaceful protests until Trump decided to send troops in to stop these protests. That is extremely unlawful. He has no right to do that and go against the mayor of the city or the governor of the state. I was a teenager in the 60s and I saw this and it shocked me. We should be aware and keep this from happening again.
Is this what is going to happen – deaths that are unnecessary and would not happen if he had just let people protest peacefully like they are doing all over the United States? Cannot the administration see that almost every major city in the United States is full of protests from its citizens? This has to stop and the only way to stop it is to either having Congress get rid of Trump by impeachment or having Congress prosecute him for what he’s illegally doing. At first his actions made me mind boggled that Congress would let him get away doing this, acting like a king. Months ago I actually thought it was sort of comical like a Saturday Night Live skit, but it’s not – it’s very serious. It’s very harmful and he needs to be stopped by Congress voting the way they should be.
It was the worst of times and the worst of times…a shockingly bizarre happening when one of the richest, but worst examples of a leader became the United States president. I think some people who voted for him thought he had a sound platform and was a business mastermind. Of course his failed attempts and bankruptcies didn’t seem to matter. I guess they voted before looking into his losing, and liked his tv personality.

“to hurt is to steal” that most intrigues me. I am very interested in seeing where you take it in your story.

Cupping the flannel shirt and sniffing his essence, she seemed perplexed. She left him, and didn’t know if that was the right decision. She held the soft material close to her for a while and wondered if he, too felt anything. Would he seek her out, again offering poetic words from a song? In her heart she hoped she would see him, and murmured his last words to her – “to hurt is to steal”. She suddenly realized what he meant. To hurt him, was stealing their bond. She sat on the couch, still clutching the shirt, and felt so sad to think she had hurt him.
Donald Trump is deploying the National Guard, not to stop riots or for safety, but to start a fight. And he’s doing it illegally.
ICE is conducting raids in the Los Angeles area. They’re not going after criminals, but average citizens who may just so happen to be undocumented. I don’t use the word “illegal” to describe humans unless it’s in the context of someone else using it. Humans are not illegal.
When the National Guard is deployed, it’s usually at the request of a governor or other officials. Yet, neither the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, nor Governor Gavin Newsom has requested military aid, like what happened during the Rodney King riots in 1992.
There has been some violence, such as cars being set on fire and other property damage, but to a small extent. The L.A.P.D. can handle these protests, which are legal.
Governor Newsom said Trump’s decision to call in the National Guard is “purposefully inflammatory.” He’s right.
Trump wants everyone to sit back and allow him to do whatever he wants. Not getting that, he wants a fight. He wants protesters to get violent. He wants L.A. to burn. He wants blood. He wants to point at the city and blame a Democratic mayor and a Democratic governor. He wants to blame liberals and Democrats. He wants to portray himself as the law-and-order president (sic), while he’s the president (sic) who pardoned the white nationalist J6 terrorists who attacked law enforcement.
Trump has ordered 2,000 Guardsmen, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is throwing out the idea of deploying Marines. That would be illegal, as it takes Congressional approval to deploy the military to serve as law enforcement. This isn’t North Korea, Russia, or Venezuela. It’s bad enough that ICE is conducting raids while wearing masks.
If ICE is on the right side, then why are they concealing their faces?
Senator Markwayne Mullin, a Republican from Oklahoma, defended Trump’s action and compared the situation to the L.A. riots of 1992, which means he’s a poor student of history. He also referred to the protesters as “illegals.” As I mentioned, that’s a dehumanizing term, and there’s no basis to claim the protesters are not American citizens. Having two first names doesn’t qualify you to distribute stupid-ass bigoted opinions.
A lot of people who were born and raised in the United States don’t like this fascist shit. Those who are defending the law, the constitution, and immigrants seeking a better life are the real patriots and heroes.
Trump, MAGAts, and Republicans are the bad guys. Let’s deport those f—-.
Creative note: I had a tough time writing today, so I eventually gave up after 7 p.m. and went with the easiest of the six ideas I did write. I hope I’m more in the zone tomorrow.
Music note: I didn’t listen to anything because I was watching this situation unfold on TV.
It was Saturday night on the strand. All the teens were on hand. There’s many strips like this in the land. But Venice Beach is the favorite in all time. Entertainment even includes a mime! Next vacation, give the strand a go.
To some (apparently connoisseurs) a frightening looking, small decapoda being, is a pure delight, whether in a tiny or large form, and considered a delicacy. The being is commonly known as shrimp, or prawns, but I think they’re disgusting.
Joe thought it was only a dream, or a nightmare if you were his friend Jack. Jack had been unpleasantly rude in the last month after taking Joe’s girlfriend, Frannie. Of course it was partly Joe’s fault since he had been inattentive in the last months, and Jack took advantage. As the night went on, Joe couldn’t sleep and sat up quickly as three specters seemed to grow nearer until Joe could actually feel their presence in his bedroom.
“You seem to be having a problem”…the first one said, “an unpleasant disagreement”…the middle one added, “we have a solution…the last one murmured. Joe’s eyes were as wide as they could be and he started shivering, as the specters were icy cold and came nearer. “Your friend seems to have absconded with your lover…we can fix that…in fact it’s our very reason to exist”. Joe was scared, but foolishly interested.
The three phantoms were evil, but Joe realized none of that, he just wanted Frannie back. “What will I have to do, what will you do?”
“Just sign here”…the first one said, and whipped out a wrinkled paper from behind him. Joe wanted the paper but couldn’t reach it. “It must be signed in blood”the second specter added, and the third one murmured, “of course”. Joe scooted back on the bed, more frightened than ever. The specters started to fade. “Of course it is your choice…” the three stated in unison.
Joe thought this was just a dream, and didn’t stop them, at first. Then he thought of Frannie, and how he had neglected her, and missed her. “Okay, okay, don’t go!”
Suddenly a small dagger appeared in his hand. He used it to cut his hand and signed the paper. Just as they came, appearing from nowhere, the ghostlike presence disappeared. Joe fell back to sleep and woke the next morning, remembering nothing of the three who came the night before. He noticed a cut in his hand but it was almost healed, but he couldn’t remember cutting it.
Having coffee and relaxing on this day, Joe felt inordinately happy, not knowing why. He opened his phone to the local headlines to see his friend Jack had been murdered. Joe was shocked! How could this happen? Jack was such a great guy and good friend. Further on in the report it was stated it was a burglary gone wrong. Three men broke in…suddenly Joe was aware of last night’s happenings. He felt so guilty he could not face Fannie. However Fannie was now seeking Joe to comfort him. The relationship she had with Jack never existed in her mind. Joe loved Fannie, but eventually his guilt took over and he left her.
I wish I had a pont to Colorado Springs where a pint sized boy just arrived, at four pounds plus. The mother did pant and emotions were pent up as this new great grandchild arrived on the scene. No need to punt with this news, I’m just rejoicing that all three persons are healthy and sweet. I’m so excited!***
