MLMM First Line Friday

Charlie stood looking at the bridge. It was a beautiful structure in the sunset evenings. He often strolled on the edge with a new love of his life; this night, Cassandra. Beautiful golden hair, big blue eyes, he thought how could he ever contemplate her demise; and yet, that is exactly what he was doing.

They met at the bridge at sunset one evening. His nightly walk, and apparently she also enjoyed the view from such heights. The colors of the sunset reflected in her golden mane and at once he thought beauty and betrayal. Charlie had experienced disappointments regarding the opposite sex and never accepted there might be a beautiful person inside also. He did not trust that some day he might encounter such a woman. As a result he used women and then quickly disposed of them.

Cassandra had similar experiences with men. Thinking she was all beauty and nothing more, they too found themselves disappointed, realizing she was strong and independent. This evening as she and Charlie joined for their nightly stroll, she also had a plan. As they both stood near the edge peering into the sunset hued waves, Charlie moved closer, grabbed her arm tightly, saying,”I’m not waiting for you to betray me, this ends now”. Cassandra stepped back quickly, while Charlie still gripped her arm.

“You are planning to throw me over? What have I done? Please tell me!”

Charlie could not accept she might be different, and tried to push her over the rail. Instead Cassandra flipped around, surprising him. “You are the guilty one. You lured my sister here three years ago. She, like me, was innocent. Now you will suffer her fate.” Charlie was stunned as Cassandra displayed previously unshown strength and flipped him over the rail, plunging him down into the water below.

Friday Fictioneers

“Honey, did you call the plumber yet? I can’t clean the kitchen with no water, and it’s building up here, quite a mess, really.”

“I thought you were going to call! Now it’s Friday already and we’d have to pay a fortune to get a plumber out on the weekend.”

“How about your dad? He’s good with this sort of thing.”

“You know what happened last time. . .then we had to get a real plumber!”

“He meant well. So we could get a hotel, just for the weekend. Just me and you and. . .”

”Room service!”

“Humph”, groaning.

MLMM Tale Weaver

Just around the corner, at the bottom of the garden, there they were. Blue trumpet flowers over flowing among the ferns. The mist was hiding them a bit but her tiny fingers carefully pushed them aside.

Stella was quiet as possible but at the first sight of movement she could not suppress a giggle. Such delight flooded through her little body, such a privilege to be the only one able to see the fairies. She spoke a soft “hello beauties” and two lavender winged fairies rose up atop the ferns. So tiny she only held out one finger for them to light upon. No words were spoken by them, but they smiled and nodded in greeting.

Stella was so happy remembering the stories her great grandmother told her about this place in the garden. It seems the ability to see the fairies skips every two generations.

Terrible Poetry – Don’t Look Back

***

Everyone says fifty is nifty

I think it’s the “all’s downhill from now on” instead

You’ve probably met the love of your life

Handled your job with strife and stress

Married and divorced your first spouse

Cynicism rules the day

Life pushes you around

Where are dreams you were promised?

Cotton Mouth Joe

Joe dragged himself out of bed for the first time in a week. He pulled his sheets off the bed and threw them and his shorts in the hamper. How could he have stayed there so long? Looking in the mirror, seeing his oily hair disgusted him. Joe hadn’t eaten a meal in a week except for a bag of potato chips and a two liter bottle of Coca Cola. He noticed a chocolate wrapper was stuck to his elbow. How could he have stooped this low?

Stepping into the icy shower, Joe had an epiphany. The cold water seemed to flood his mind with positivity. Sporting a smile the first time in days, thought, a new day, new life!

Three Line Tales 11-07-19

Sidewalk sale, yea! I love these. Out here I feel I can take my time without some clerk watching my every move, asking what I’m looking for, or suggesting other musicians. I know what I like. I have very refined taste.

Now where is the latest Al Yankovich cd?
