Can You Tell a Story in 73?

True story, happened yesterday afternoon. Rolling up to the lobby, ready in my warm sweater, to switch into a transport van for a doctor’s appointment. I make no apology for trying to look my best, hair and makeup done including lipstick – need my lips colored, otherwise I’m too pale. The maintenance man was sitting in his exclusive perch, started to rave about my lips. No verse but statements. Others there, embarrassing!

All she wanted was a Psychedelic Party, nothing much except music, friends, dancing and a cake and ice cream. “That’s not so much to ask her grandmother chimed in. I remember having a party like that years ago. Harmony, your mother chose Poppy and Indigo for her children’s names so it’s all good. Oh my, I think I may have a few albums from those days that we could play on your record player.” The plans came together quickly as the women in the family all coordinated the party. Harmony’s 16th birthday party was a success.

Fandango’s Story Starter

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

She’d only given in because she was lonely. Betty donned her hiking boots, grabbed her coat and backpack and grudgingly joined Joe on the trail. This camping trip was supposed to be cathartic, but so far it was one big bore. There weren’t even s’mores at the nightly campfires. She liked Joe okay but he was too quiet. Once the two were away from the camp a couple of miles, Joe said let’s take a break. Sitting on the cliff edge, he admitted he just wanted to talk. He told Betty about his home life and she was surprised to think how much it mirrored her own. They spent longer than they thought just talking and when they returned it was supper time. Betty knew she had made a new friend and that the camping trip was worth it. However, still no s’mores!

Here are this week’s questions:

1.  Would you consider yourself easy going? More so now that I’m older. I used to be a it’s either black or white person. But now I realize that’s not right.

2.  Are you comfortable talking to a group of strangers at a social gathering? Yes, in fact I like meeting people.

3.  What are three things about people that annoy you? Refusal to accept people that don’t look like you. Criticizing everything. Lying.

4.  What do you do to cheer yourself up when you’re feeling down in the dumps? I try and lately it’s not easy, but I try to look at pictures of my family and they always make me smile.

Gratitude: I just sent a note to one of my grandsons reminiscing about him and meals we used to make together, since I was making one of them that night. I’m so grateful for my family.
