If you need a bit of fantasy, magic, and comedy, and who doesn’t these days, you might enjoy “Fantastic Beasts” and where to find them–the same genre as the Harry Potter series and a new delight from the same author, JK Rowling.

Mighty Casey has struck out, now autumn clouds cast shadows
The field is on hiatus as a lonely pigskin waits
The empty stands reflect virus status
Athletes trained and ready sit in locker rooms
Coaches speechifying all is well
While secretly fearing a sickly crowd
What manner of need is this for a simple game?

Slow the fury of days
Accept and calm the anger

I started a painting
With oils of a hue
That reflect my thoughts
And visions of you.
A bit of a puzzle as to where to begin
Before or after where we’ve been
Starting fresh, I turn the page
Should I paint envy with the green of sage
Or sadness with hints of blue
Red for the passion of youth
Golden leaves for the bright days
Somber brown for forgotten ways
I think I’ll put the paints away
Wait for better memories my mind to play.

“It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. . .” sung the three children, noticing all the trees near the road. They were always happy when Saturday came because every weekend they drove from the city to the country with their mom and dad. Today their special treat is visiting Santa’s Workshop store where even in September, a Santa would let them sit on his lap and tell them all of their dreams and wishes for Christmas.

The largest turtle ambled up to the biggest rock on the river bank. Beginning his speech to the local amphibians, had a sad look in old eyes. He wanted to reassure them democratic justice was not dead, but felt the aura of sorrow permeating the elderly of the river. If he sugarcoated the news, he was sure they would think him a hypocrite.
It had been a struggle to get the younger generation to deny the ways of ruthless sycophants who recklessly viewed climate change in favor of a more personally rewarding life. There were only so many levels in the river ecosystem turtles were capable of and using wayward means sometimes trumped a more ecological method with no thoughts of future consequences. In the end, the elder’s message was considered important by his followers and uninformed by the young ones, who denied changes in their environment.

The two old lonely men had incessant lustful dreams and those dreams began to collide with reality. Now the two are imprisoned with no chance of romance, doomed to be inanimate objects of stone; their fate after being discovered as peeping toms.

A trip beyond match, to the hatchery to catch sight of a batch of fish.
I stumbled over a patch of thatch and ended up as the nightly served dish.

In ancient days the gods would feast
On various men or beasts
Thus a table needed there
To sit by, and enjoy the fare
A roasted boar, they enjoyed plenty
Beasts of burden they ate many
A human sacrifice sometimes needed
That lowly creature was not to be heeded.
