Fandango’s Friday Flashback

Picture Prompt-49 1-29-17

She looked over her shoulder. Yes, he was still watching her. Of
course that’s what she wanted. That’s why she wore this dress, showing off her tattoos. Anyone interested in her because of the drawings was someone she wanted to meet.

Her life story was painted on her body. Not her real life, but her
fantasy life, the one she wanted to live. She endured the pain of the
needle, hoping the results would finally sweep her away into them. Of course it wouldn’t really happen, but as each tattoo was blazoned on her body, she would try to wish herself into them.

He was still looking at her, couldn’t take his eyes off her! She was certainly beautiful, but those tattoos! He would love to see all of them, every painting on that beautiful body. She looked right at him. She knew he was interested. It was as if there was a silent connection.

He was interested alright. She could feel his curious interest in his gaze. Maybe if she turned around and started toward him….

Unbelievable, he thought. She’s coming over! Their attraction was
equally exciting. As she grew closer he smiled. “Care for a drink?” he asked. They left the street carnival and went into the cafe.

Many had traveled this path in the past. It was only recently that the dragon skull, suddenly unearthed from above and landed here, that it seemed unsafe to pass by. Why and how this event took place was not heard of in village legends, so it was decided to now take an alternate route to their homes.

Brief Encounter

What category describes this feeling

Where does it lay in the book of love

I look upon you with sad eyes, knowing

It will not last,

It’s like trying to determine which direction a candle will quiver.

Once hot and burning, hard to capture, and fleeting in time

MLMM Tale Weaver 1-28-21

Of course not everyone was grim. It was mostly the oldsters–those that started the union conventions over fifty years ago and stubbornly refused to accept any changes.

The new enlightened generation thought it was time to accept more variety in lamplighters and put ads in the local newspaper saying so. The ad explained that the Grimsters convention was originally organized by lamplighters who hated their job and started a union of sorts, thus the name, but times have changed. The inclusion of J.J.J.J. had set new standards.

Lamplighting was a timely tradition, often called “lanmiters”. The mispronunciation started in the days of John Jacob Jeremiah Jones who had a slight speech impediment.

It was no wonder, with his strict parents insisting on him saying his full name in front of anyone he met. His stutter remained throughout his lifetime but he was also known for getting every flame burning on the street lamps before dark.

We can all be thankful to J.J.J.J for his faithful service and the beginnings of a new era for lamp lighters.

Three Line Tales 1-28-21

My eyes are wide

My plea is real

I need your help

Do we have a deal?

I promise to use the box faithfully

Everytime, you can count on me

I won’t scratch at your chairs

Or ruin your sofa

I’ll lay with you and lick like a loofah

Give no kisses that smell like tuna

And at night I’ll prowl in the lunar

I won’t topple plants

Or laugh when you dance

I’ll be perfect you’ll see

If you let me be

Your constant companion

We’ll have lots of fun

If you adopt me, we’ll
be as one!
