The Sunday Whirl

The sky held the image of a huge ghost-like mouth accompanied by the boom of thunder. I was never afraid of thunder before but this spring the storms seemed louder and even ominous. Birds fluttered away from their nests to take cover in the bushes. Rodents were scuffling to find a sheltering hole to crawl into. As I hurried inside my door at last, my temples were bursting, my steps weaving and I plopped down on the nearest chair. The air was thick with unexplainable fear. I think I’ve been reading too many Stephen King stories!

EM Sunday Ramble

Here are the questions:

  1. Are there any applications on your mobile device, tablets, etc. that you cannot live without? Feel free to ramble about them! Maybe we will learn new apps that will become important in our own lives.
  2. Do you prefer Apple or Android?
  3. Windows OS or MacOS?
  4. What do you wish that you would have placed in a time capsule 15+ years ago to have access to now?
  5. When you think of the what the world will look like 50 years from now, what does that future look like through your eyes? Go as sci-fi and/or fantasy as you would like and ramble on however you wish to ramble 🙂

An app I like on my iPad is Boy Howdy Free Jigsaw Puzzles. No ads and lovely pics to choose from.

I like Apple for its compatibility with iPad and iPhone. Before I had this phone I loved my Samsung Android which had some features I miss, such as the bottom clear all tab and the backup feature.

I have no idea but probably basically the same with less good air, less animals and plant life, and worse radical personalities.

MLMM Saturday Mix

Her pleasing smile, was beautifully bathed in the glow of the sun. My query was on the tip of my tongue but could I actually fulfill my intentions? We took off our sandals and walked along the edge of the salt water. I finally took her palm in mine and asked the most important question I would ever ask.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

After the Funeral

“Gonna cook up a messastuff”, Grammie said with determination. “Them mourners’ll be comin’, gotta be ready!”
Grammie got out all the pots, banging them down on the stove.
“I’ll help, where’s the recipe!”
“Huh?” She laughed.

“Besame Mucho” – Andrea Bocelli – 2015

Kiss me now,
kiss me with passion —
kiss me as if this were to be
our very last night.
Kiss me now,
kiss me with passion —
for you I may nevermore see
once past early light.

I want to hold you so closely,
look into your eyes to find
you mirroring me.
I’m sure dawn will find me lonely
cast away so far behind
where you then will be.

Kiss me now
kiss me with passion —
fearing tomorrow I’ll lose you
past dawn’s early light; —
and I may forever lose you, —
forever lose you. — — —

Kiss me now,
kiss me with passion —
kiss me as if this were to be
our very last night.
Kiss me now,
kiss me with passion —
for you I may never-more see
once past early light.

SoCS – Whatever

I’ve decided the real Inspector Gadget lives down the hall. My daughter and I were getting into my door when he stopped and enlightened us on the latest goings-on in the building.

Apparently he had his apartment burgled and wanted to warn me about it. He told the mgr they needed security cameras in the halls like the ones outside. He then went on to describe all the devices he has in and outside his apartment. Hidden cameras, motion detectors, etc. I can’t remember all of them!

I said I really don’t have any valuables, at which point he said loudly “your identity!” It was almost laughable because he was SO serious! I tried to add humor by saying so I need to put my ID and bank card under my mattress? He did not think that funny and then said “I have insurance on all my personal data, etc, and you should too!”

I could go on telling you tales: he told of the car in the parking lot that had the catalytic converter stolen in a fifteen minute theft or… who knew they contain platinum and sell on the black market for thousands of dollars?

I don’t have a car any longer and I can’t drive. I’m sure there’s no c c on my scooter so guess I’m safe. I told my daughter when we finally got inside that if I’m ever in trouble I know who to go to for help. I’m sure he has a few weapons in his place also.

Whatever🙄😳😀

Throwback Thursday

***

Our vacations always involved a long road trip whether we had a week or two, it didn’t matter. The car was a 1966 Mustang and all three kids were strapped into the back seat in the seatbelts available at the time which provided them limited movement.

They were supplied with snacks, paper, crayons, color books, regular books, a few games. We also had our dachshund Peanut in the back. Every one and every thing had it’s place. We carried a cooler in the trunk that included cereal, milk, orange juice, sliced turkey, ham, roast beef and cheeses. There was also peanut butter and jam, and bread of course. Your choices were your own but eating in a restaurant was a rare occasion. Fruit and cut up veggies were also packed. One time when we visited my folks in VT, my dad helped clean out the car. He couldn’t believe it—when I was a kid we never were allowed to eat or drink anything in his car😄

3TC – 2/18/22

***

She walked in wearing a ridiculous diadem on her head, and a big red rose bud peeking out from a low cut bustier. Indeed quizzical, my first thought was she was trying to challenge any of us “normal” attendees, but her waxy eyes staring ahead as if in a trance made us wonder if she had been drugged!

There’s no copyright on trying to be the only woman noticed in the mingle of a party, but she never said a single word! She strode over to the banquet table and sort of leaned there, as if about to faint. My friend and I went over and realized someone had pranked her and she indeed had been drugged.

“What’s Good” – Lou Reed -2/18/1982

Life’s like a mayonnaise soda
And life’s like space without room
And life’s like bacon and ice cream
That’s what life’s like without you
Life’s like forever becoming
But life’s forever dealing in hurt
Now life’s like death without living
That’s what life’s like without you
Life’s like Sanskrit read to a pony
I see you in my mind’s eye strangling on your tongue
What good is knowing such devotion
I’ve been around, I know what makes things run
What good is seeing eye chocolate
What good’s a computerized nose
And what good was cancer in April
Why no good, no good at all
What good’s a war without killing
What good is rain that falls up
What good’s a disease that won’t hurt you
Why no good, I guess, no good at all
What good are these thoughts that I’m thinking
It must be better, huh not to be thinking at all
A styrofoam lover with emotions of concrete
No not much, not much at all
What’s good is life without living
What good’s this lion that barks
You loved a life others throw away nightly
It’s not fair, not fair at all
What’s good?
Oh baby, what’s good?
What’s good?
What’s good?
Not much at all
Hey baby, what’s good?
What’s good? Life’s good
But not fair at all
