The Sunday Whirl

I walked out to see the neighbor standing by a small fire she made in the garden. I was sorry to see a favorite dragonfly lying near. I learned that three of the pale wings had been singed but the fourth seemed mostly intact. My eyes looked upon the old one with scorn. She was a jealous witchy woman and the dragonfly might not recover. The beautiful insect tried to stretch the barely harmed wing but it only caused her to spin around. It would take a magical fairytale ending for her to fly again. The crone chuckled as she trudged out of the garden we shared. She would never know the love of nature as I do.

SoCS 10-14-23 – Fix

It is unfixable, my cabinet by the couch that held plug ins and usb ports and was very handy. Of course it was my fault for I usually put my latte on the top while reading blogs in the morning. My elbow hit the arm of the couch, spilled the liquid and shorted it all out and ended up a sticky mess. It had been a bedside table for a while and it was almost ten years old so no complaints. It’s still usable but I miss the ports😳😂

Enjoy the cool weather🎃

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 14, 2023

MLMM Saturday Mix

Time was passing too quickly. Soon they would catch up to him. He glanced at his watch, it was getting dark and he couldn’t use the headlights or surely he would be caught, then ripped out of the vehicle, and only handcuffed if he was lucky. He had to laugh at that thought—lucky.

He swerved to the right and hit the dirt road in a flurry of dust. Then he saw his destination, the water and hopefully, the boat. It looked just like the image his accomplice had sent him in email.
Let me be “lucky” one more time he thought, and couldn’t keep a wry smile from his lips as he saw the vessel on the shore. Jumping out of the car and awkwardly running to the boat, he suddenly stopped.

The boat was there as promised, but up close he could see it was filling with water. The moon now out in full, he sank down in the sand, realizing he had been betrayed. As the police car’s colorful lights loomed up behind him, he could not help but laugh at the irony.

Grassy plains swirl and dance with autumn winds and chilled lakes await skaters’ blades. Mountains not yet peaked with snow loom in the distance while furry covered beings make ready in its hollows. Autumn is swiftly passing and the feeling of hurried behavior wafts over the land.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Prompt-13-Winter

by rugby843 2-16-17

One of the things that makes cold less dire

Is having a cord of cut wood for a fire

If keeping warm is an absolute must

You need a good axe you can trust

A good set in handle, no junk

A wedge for splitting the big hunks

Grabbing the kindling you might get a splinter

Just one of the hazards to stay warm in the winter.

Be Aware of Symbols of Hate

The Ku Klux Klan has utilized a variety of symbols over its history.

The Ku Klux Klan commonly shortened to the KKK or the Klan is the name of several historical and current white supremacist and hate groups. Their primary targets are African-Americans, Hispanics, Jews, Latinos, Asian Americans, native Americans, Italian, Americans, Irish Americans, and Catholics as well as immigrants, leftists, homosexuals, Muslims, atheists, and abortion providers.

The Duke Flag, used by some in the Third Klan and named after former leader, David Duke and the blood drop cross is shown below.

Remind you of anything?

Blood Drop Cross

The Primary symbol used by the clan for the past century has been the Mystic Insignia of a Klansman, commonly known as the Blood Drop Cross, a white cross on a red disk with what appears to be a blood drop in the middle. It was first used in the early 1900s, with the symbol in the center originally appearing as a red and white ting yang which in the subsequent years, lost the white part and was reinterpreted as a “blood drop”. The blood drop symbolizes blood shed for the white race.

Classic Song Beginnings

Jon Bon Jovi wrote the song in a hotel room while suffering from a hangover and the lyrics reflect his feelings at the time. The song contains drawn out guitar riffs and soft piano playing, along with emotive and high vocals by Jon Bon Jovi.

Lyrics:

Sitting here wasted and wounded
At this old piano
Trying hard to capture
The moment this morning I don’t know

‘Cause a bottle of Vodka’s still lodged in my head
And some blonde gave me nightmares
Think that she’s still in my bed
As I dream about movies
They won’t make of me when I’m dead

With an ironclad fist
I wake up and french kiss the morning
While some marching band keeps its own beat in my head
While we’re talking

About all of the things that I long to believe
About love, the truth, what you mean to me
And the truth is
Baby you’re all that I need

I want to lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I’ll sleep on a bed of nails
Oh I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on a bed of roses

Well I’m so far away
Each step that I take is on my way home
A king’s ransom in dimes, I’d give each night
To see through this payphone

Still I run out of time
Or it’s hard to get through
Till the bird on the wire flies me back to you
I’ll just close my eyes and whisper
“Baby, blind love is true”

I want to lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I’ll sleep on a bed of nails
Oh I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on a bed of roses

Well this hotel bar’s hangover whiskey’s gone dry
The barkeeper’s wig’s crooked
And she’s giving me the eye
Well I might have said yeah
But I laughed so hard I think I died
Ooh yeah

Now as you close your eyes
Know I’ll be thinking about you
While my mistress she calls me
To stand in her spotlight again

Tonight I won’t be alone
But you know that don’t mean I’m not lonely
I’ve got nothing to prove
For it’s you that I’d die to defend

I want to lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I’ll sleep on a bed of nails
I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down

I want to lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I’ll sleep on a bed of nails
I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down
On a bed of roses
