Six Sentence Story

He’d always hated that nickname. Being compared to a playing card every day seemed an insult. His name was Avrey which is not the most masculine of names but his parents chose it, so what could he do? Actually it was his best friend Joe who chose to call him “Ace” and somehow it stuck. In his entire world he is known as Ace. Now if he could only embody the concept…

It was angelic, the night, the moon light peeking over the sunset, and the swirls of water over her body was soothing. She needed this after the bee incident that afternoon. She had been of a sober mind, sitting in the garden, contemplating her next book when suddenly a bee lunges at her face. Being allergic to the cute honey producing creatures, she had chosen a shady area where she thought it was safe to lounge. She tried to ignore it and remain calm but the seemingly urgent pursuit of the bee caused her to let out a frenzied scream. She leaped from the lounge chair and ran inside. She stayed inside until the sun was going down, bees hopefully calm in their hive. Quietly, she came out to find solace in her pool.

Saturday Night Watching

Netflix has a new series that reminds us of ongoing criminal activity in government: From Rolling Stone:

“American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders’ Examines Journalist’s Tragic Death, Perils of Sleuthing

The Netflix docuseries attempts to uncover the truth behind Danny Casolaro’s death and sprawling conspiracy web surrounding him. The new Netflix docuseries American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders is about a great many things: a journalist who either committed suicide or was murdered; a government surveillance software program that the Department of Justice might have stolen from its creators; a shady, scary assortment of geniuses, goons, spies, and killers with tight connections to the CIA, the NSA, and other members of the U.S. government alphabet soup. At it’s best, however, it’s about that unquenchable obsession, the kind that can lead down dark tunnels and into sprawling conspiracy webs and ultimately death. It’s a significant cut above most true crime fare, aesthetically and especially thematically.”

Your three words today are:
HERE THERE EVERYWHERE

You can’t avoid it, it’s everywhere

Makes you want to tear your hair

There it sits on every “news” page

Someone must think they’re giving sage

Advice to little old you and me

Don’t know about you, but I know me

I worry about who’s spouting here

All the negativity and fear

It gets to be too much

When did “news” start to suck?

Maybe if T goes to jail

The hate will start to fail

Should we not look and just pretend

That somehow it will end

But even now we still write our rhymes

To promote peace and love in this time.

Three Things Challenge #M621

MLMM Saturday Mix

Maria adjusted the mask with a hidden oxygen source and walked into the casino. According to the internet, it was masquerade night and that seemed a great opportunity for the gig. Her computer had always been a good resource to find out where the rich and famous were hiding out. She signaled the rest of her crew who were nestled behind the casino in a stand of thick trees. One had the grenade—it was not a lethal one, it was a shock and awe device that temporarily blinded and deafened the people around it. Maria went up to the nearest table pretending to join in gambling, placed a hundred dollar bill and threw the dice which landed in a curious diagonal stop. It was a magical pair that she switched to create a distraction as her cohorts entered behind the table. John opened the grenade and while everyone was stunned, they gathered up all the cash they could. The crew of thieves walked out, tossing their helpful masks into the van and drove off.
