I thought it an err in his judgement

And saw the will as a punishment

I’m his only heir

Just wasn’t fair

When his cats received somuchofit.

Thought my tenable funds base

And my “calling” as a disgrace

Even said so right to my face

But fans love me playing the bass.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — March 1st

Basketball

I’m elusive and sweaty

Handed off here and there

Hands grab at me always

Hoping for a score there

Pushing, elbows, fingernails sharp

Fake falls and splats while coaches harp

Refs unbiased should be the case

Not found in a high school race

Parents and friends loud and obnoxious

Sometimes their words are too toxic

But in the end

Lose or win

They can’t do it without me.

A house, a home, so many wanting and needing one and so few of the wealthy try to help with this problem. Buildings are constantly being torn down in poor neighborhoods and then replaced by areas for the wealthy. Where are the ousted persons supposed to go?

Proponents would rather go into politics with other like minded individuals and complain about the homeless instead of finding remedies for the situation. It’s one of those “walk a mile in my shoes” situations where the divide is so great it can’t be crossed. Or can it?

Many of these politicians and their followers are quick to spout their religious beliefs and then act in a totally opposite manner—the basic tenet of all religions: love your fellow man/do unto others etc.

We can all probably agree this is the ideal and if you decide to loudly decree the tenet, why then, act differently? I think they are hiding their true intentions and only want more wealth and more power.

Utopia is what they saw above the busy city they had left so far below. Trekking behind a few likeminded people, the climb was worth it. The mountain retreat had been a dream for the couple who finally decided to take some time for themselves. Working in the demanding financial district in NYC, their lives resembled a rat race. The life they had first chosen was now a disappointment to them both. This trip was going to be a month’s stay where they could relax, and reset their dreams and lifestyles.
