The Sunday Whirl

The mouse penetrates the maze and the red glow appears on the monitor. The curious creature prowls ahead, slowly stepping and peeks around the corner. The hard edges seem to soften as the drip of the scientist’s new concoction enters the tiny one’s bloodstream. The mouse, however is not the frail animal to be treated crudely and takes an impetuous leap to the top of the maze structure. The scientist sighs, as once again he has underestimated the small mouse who is now staring back at his captor.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt – The USA

It seems to me these days turmoil is becoming the “norm”. Everyone is intentionally stirred up into frenzies and acts upon poor information, bad advice and overpowering political influence. This phenomena travels around like a sneaking predator, eagerly consuming even the most temperate minds. My personal opinion is this has increased since election 2016.

Weekend Writing Prompt #348 – Turmoil

MLMM Saturday Mix

Your story starter for this week is:

  • “Damn it,” she thought, as the heel on her shoe snapped clean off…and these were her favorites! She thought woefully of the huge amount of money she spent on them, just to fit in. Fitting in was important in her office. It seemed every employee was ultimately dressed, probably spending half of their salary on appearance too. She liked her job, made friends there, but were they really, or just “dressing” themselves as such, just like her.

JJJ 27/SoCS

Your prompt for #JusJoJan the 27th and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “make the call.” Use it as an idiom or use it literally. Have fun!

Fighting a life insurance company is one of the reasons I chose frustrating for different prompt answer. Without going into detail I detest waiting on hold and being transferred to more than a couple of people and repeating details again. Making the call is always a dreaded event.

The Friday Reminder for #SoCS & #JusJoJan 2024 Daily Prompt – Jan. 27th

Writer’s Workshop

Here are this week’s prompts:
Write a post inspired by the word reality.
Write a post in exactly 15 sentences.
Write about something you think people have forgotten how to do.
Write about a favorite childhood toy.
Tell us about a time you hid from something (or someone).
Talk about something you used to do “the hard way” and how you do it now.

Reality

Reality hit me hard a few times in my life. I have always loved fantasy and stretching my imagination, thinking it might have begun in strength while watching the opening of the Disney programs as a child. I have to admit the music and picture of that castle and shooting stars still gives me a feeling. Not a feel of reality surely, but in the back of m mind I still crave the perfect dream. I’m sure it’s no surprise my favorite character was Cinderella, oh I’m really opening up now admitting that😳. But as harsh as some reality has been, I am still a dreamer and love the idea/promise? Things can be better.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Picture Prompt-128

by rugby843, posted 4-26-17

As I descended the stairs of the old bridge, I saw it.  The answer to my quest.  All I have to do now is retrieve it.  I believe it will save them.  Legend has told me so.  One single pink flower plucked from the stream is all I need.  The woodland creatures are counting on me, because they can’t go into this enchanted place themselves.

Alice told me of their plight, and as her older sister, I must try.  I never believed in her tales of these fairies and sprites, but then one evening, I saw them.  We were just playing outside one summer, trying to catch fireflies.  A secret smile crossed Alice’s face and she quietly pointed to a tiny being on a rose petal.  “See?  I told you they were real.”  I was thrilled to actually see the small fairy.  From then on we would have so many exciting times watching the small beings.  They seemed fearless in our presence and now they needed my help.

My sister told me of the legend of this special bloom. It was a rare flower and only seen by true believers. Once I picked the bloom it would not appear again for a decade. Its power would help protect the forest creatures for the next ten years and then another would be chosen to find it. It was a matter of faith and trust between the woodland beings and little girls like Alice who believe.
