I found this artist in 2014 on the voice audition, singing “Royals” and have liked him ever since. His version of “Mad World” another favorite.

Because I still have this on my homescreen:

This post disappeared when I tried to edit, lost it completely then it showed up in my email with other people’s posts. . .I give up!
Trees not budding, spring flowers not seen here, and on the way to Ft. Collins, CO the plowed fields showed no green sprouts. The Rockies range is still snow covered and here we have this:

So as usual, it’s me. By the way, again I have to sign in on your sites to leave a comment when I receive your posts in email, so it takes time. The Reader seems more cooperative right now, but doesn’t always show the sites I follow. I see from my android phone too many ads are showing up on my posts. I can’t seem to change that. I apologize. Things are changing here as I try to edit, I have no idea how to make it better. I’ve just spent a few days with a horrid virus, so I’m not in the mood to investigate the problem yet. As far as the weather is concerned, I offer this:

It was “A long history of nearly nothing”. At least that’s how he put it at the divorce hearing. Sitting in the courtroom, I still had not thought this would happen. He had met someone new, younger, more exciting, adventurous–I was almost jealous of his ability to just drop everything, apply for the divorce, and set out on a new life.
I admit I was defeated, felt like a failure. Could I blame him? The “nothing years” he said, my mind struggled to believe he used those words. We had a family, a busy life, and I thought he was happy, satisfied in his role as husband and father. What happened?
What happened? My subconscious knows, it just won’t show itself until I’m in the dark, trying to sleep and then there it is. Everything had slowed down to a predictable pace of life. No more surprises, no more secret hidden notes to each other. Spontaneity had died. We loved each other but we weren’t “in love”. We were tired, life happened and youthful expectations fell away.
My lawyer rose to say, “no contest” and I felt empty.

Trying to get in
Or trying to get out
Some days it’s a toss up
The lock is broken
Among other things.
I see the light
The greenery calls to me
But I’m safe here
I think nothing tried to get in.
It could have been the wind, the thunderstorm
Maybe lightning
I have tried to get out
My mind’s in a fog
My attempt useless
But I am safe here.
I think I’m safe here.
Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #14
http://cyranny.com/2019/05/20/fog-word-of-the-day-challenge/
The phone rang again, this time I just let the recorder take it. “Hello, Miss Jones, this is Joe Collector, how are you doing this fine day? I think you’ve been avoiding my calls after we last talked. As you know the payment of $125.00 has been due now for two months. I am certain you want to make the payment, so let’s talk. The longer you let this go on, the higher the payment interest becomes.”
I pushed the delete recording button and just then the phone rang again. The voice was Joe again so I pulled the wall plug and silenced the phone. It was never going to stop. I had two dollars left in my purse, and hoped a trip to the food bank would get us by for a few more days. My mother was in the bedroom, ill, and things in general were bleak. The only saving grace was the home we lived in, paid for when my dad was working full time. If it hadn’t been for his frugality, mother and I would be homeless.
My mother’s medical bills swallowed up our savings, Medicare was only covering eighty percent of her expenses, and my job is not bringing in enough to support us. I know our neighbors look down upon
us, thinking using the foodbank supplies are sponging off the government, but we are not. The foodbank is supplied by willing businesses, markets and ordinary people. We contributed as a family, when times were better.
I know I should plug the phone in again, know the bills need to be paid, I feel so discouraged. I only have so many hours I can be away from home and caring for my mother. Our future is dim.

We are the wise ones
Thin after years of advice
Our bark barely shows
The years have taken a toll
For the children of forests.

I was tagged by http://crushedcaramel.wordpress.com to contribute a chapter in the following story. Thank you, and have a sensational time in Australia!

Here’s my part:
As she left the room, Adam opened the folder to see what he hoped would be there, an overseas assignment. He hadn’t traveled the earth much and if it was all going to hell, he wanted to see as much of it as he could. Adam thought he would make a good spy if that’s what it took, after all, he had seen all the James Bond movies, all the others he could find, but kept the fantasies to himself. Basic training was hardly a picnic, but if he could endure that and still be chosen for a special assignment, he was excited.
There were forms to fill out, many contract clauses calling for complete secrecy for any mission he completed. Adam signed quickly, felt no need to view “the fine print”. It was his naïveté and abilities that made him the perfect candidate. After filling out every paper, Adam returned to Doctor Bluebell’s office. “Right, then” as she took the folder, “now it’s time to meet the big guy.” Adam was wondering who the “big guy” was, thinking it was a Major or Colonel, and then laughed to himself as “M” came to mind. A huge door slowly cranked open and there he was…
