Share Your World-January 2, 2017

That “motorcycle” looks like just what I need – at ceenphotography.com on her Share Your World post today.I hope everyone’s recuperating from all the holiday festivities. As for my family, most of us ended up passing around cold germs while two people were recovering from hip and knee surgeries. Quite a group! Nevertheless we had fun watching or participating in the Risk version of “Game of Thrones”. It’s those quiet ones that are the most ruthless! Great fun, among sneezing, coughing and the worst of the trio, blowing noses!

1. First answer is the motorcycle. I have scars and imbedded coal in my knees from bicycle riding as a kid. I had a bad fall off a moped in my thirties. My three wheeled scooter dumped me in a grocery parking lot in 2015, and my legs and feet would not handle a tricycle, so my vote is the motorcycle, the one in Cee’s photo. I’m spectacularly coordinated!

2. I would like to accomplish this year strengthening my arms so I’m more able to pull myself up.

3. The highlight(s) of 2016 were seeing two granddaughters graduate from high school the same day, my oldest grandson graduating from EMT and Fire school, and another grandson getting his driver’s license.

4. Definitely the hot air balloon. I’ve always loved watching them and a ride in one would be fantastic!

5. I am grateful that my sons and their families traveled to see us at Christmas and all were safe. It was so nice to see them so happy and having great lives.

6. I am looking forward to another date with my granddaughter before she goes back to college. Also another granddaughter’s recovery from second hip surgery being over and the pain decreasing greatly.

Happy days ahead to all!

 #JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan. 2nd-17-Time

11:00am, just woke up to granddaughter’s call.

“Hey, wanna go to a movie today?”

“Sure, what time?” I need parameters, I’m basically lazy.

“?”

“Which one?”

“Passengers, Assassins, or Why him.”

“I’d like to see Passengers.  But I’ll look at the trailers for the others.”

“Why Him looks like it might be funny.Umm..”

“Okay we’ll see that.”  (It looks like a typical teen type movie with a lot of language, but I’m game.)

“Pick you up at 1:00, okay?”

“Pie afterwards?”

“Yeah 🐸!”

So goes the life of a very privileged grandmother.  And the pie is just a bonus….

Night Meeting

Shall I write of you again

Take the paper and the pen

Put a note upon your door

To meet me on the moor?

My heart is aching for your touch

The separation rues our love

Take the chance and let us meet

Be swift my ghostly steed!

The moor is moonlight born

This ache is like a thorn

Piercing every single part

Of my lonely heart.

Come meet me in the night

Be like a bird, take flight

I’m waiting, waiting there

Come save me from despair.

#JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan. 1st/17-Spider

This is a brown recluse spider. They Iike to hide in your closets and carpet edges. They have a deadly bite. If you’re getting out some packed away stuff that’s been stored for a while, rap on the bottom of the walls surrounding the items and the spiders will retreat. Otherwise you may be in for a nasty bite. If you suspect you have been bitten, go to the ER, and take the spider if you can.

Visual Prompt-1956

The Tournament of Roses Parade will start tomorrow, January 2nd at 8:00PST in Pasadena, California. It usually occurs on January 1st unless the first is a Sunday, as it is this year. The tradition of never on Sunday began when the committee thought the parade would frighten the horses/wagons that carried people to churches. The parade was originated by Pasadena’s Valley Hunt Club in 1890, to show the beautiful land, weather, and flowers of that area. It grew too big for the small club and in 1895, the Tournament of Roses Association took over the festivities. In the beginning they held chariot races, other competitions, and many horse drawn carts were decorated with roses and many other forms of vegetation. Today there are many different species of flowers and more from all over the world.

Picture Prompt-25

It wouldn’t be far now. She paused and looked ahead to her destination. She thought of everything that awaited her. When she was a child she dreamed of this. Her prayers were filled with hopes of coming here. She wondered if the endless sunset would always be there. It must be beautiful. Even the path is illuminated with color. All the pain, the sorrow, would be over. Only a few more steps and she would see them again. The people she missed would surround her with love, and welcome her to her new home.
One more step and she was lifted into the colors. Her earthly presence was gone.

Daily Prompt:  Year

Sorry, but I cannot be sincere

For the prompt this time-year.

I’ve already stated

And been berated

About the unusual year ’16

Unless you want to hear a mean

Comment about the latest election

And my country’s odd selection.

Of course our choices weren’t very good

Could have been better, they really should

But that’s over now, can’t dwell on the past

We’ll see who next Mr. Trump blasts.

I told you not to get me started

Now I’m starting to feel downhearted.

But I’ll persevere and anticipate

A year that looks good on our plate.

Reminds me of that rhubarb pie.

It’s my favorite, and that’s no lie.

Visual Prompt-1955

I travel the streets

to accomplish my feats

I try to bring joy

Never to annoy

To people who doubt

Who live on the outs

I travel at night

To show off my lights

A sight to see

So colorfully

I ride in the night

Try to bring right

To those who fight

Who’s troubles smite

Their lives somehow

They need help now.

I can only use my bike

Money I have not the like

But I hope my lights will give some measure

Of happiness and maybe pleasure

Possibly hope and good will?

At least a smile I might instill.

Daily Post Prompt: Hopeful

This word is,  well, full of hope. It’s a wish, positive thinking, a dream, all of these things. As a child you looked up to a shooting star and made a wish. Haven’t we all at sometime made a wish on a star, or birthday candles? That takes hope. Hope that it will come true, faith that it will.

Here in the US, the present days of so much spoken dissent and hatred, we need to block out those angry voices and be hopeful that things will change. That doesn’t mean standing by and just wishing for change. We all need to do our part. We might face disappointment, disillusion, but we can’t stop being hopeful.
