IMPORTANT SCAM ALERT

This is a copy of an email I received today.

I received this thinking it was legitimate in the fact it appears so.  If you want to cancel you have to give them all of your personal information including your Social Security number and privacy question for security reasons. This is definitely a scam and when you try to get on to Apple to see what is going on, it takes forever and you have to wait.  My advice is to call your bank immediately and make sure that this charge did not go through. I am not a person who likes Netflix.  I may be the only one in the world, but I do not like it, do not want it, and I certainly would not have ordered it.

Be on the lookout for emails like this.  Do not just delete when you see the title assuming that it is an ad.

Not a cup for a left handed person

“That’s not a cup for a left handed person”, I told my son at Christmas. We were all gathered at my apartment and as they helped themselves to drinks, my clean cups were on top of the dishwasher as always. I keep them there to access them easily. Of course I have others in the dining room cabinet, but most guests just use what’s handy. And that’s the way I like it. I have a favorite cup I use with a wolf on it, but it has a missing piece on one side, not big, but enough to possibly cut your lip. My son sat next to me and was using that cup. I said to him what I wrote above, because being left handed, his lip would be touching the broken side. Nothing happened and he just laughed.

I was thinking of that this morning as I filled that same cup with coffee. The idea came to me that what I said is a metaphor for some things in life. You may think you can conquer every task but some might not even be the ones meant for you. I might want to see the top of Mount Everest but that’s not for me. With all the positive messages in the world there are some things not possible. Of course you are now thinking that is too high a goal for me and of course it’s not possible. You are certainly right. For some things in life you may not be suited. That’s my only point here. I’m not saying to take the easy way out. But I think it’s better and more realistic to have reasonable expectations. I know I’ve been a speaker for dreams and dislike of the word reality before. I’m not changing my mind. Just watch out for the cracks in your cup.

Wordle #142 – February 13, 2017

It was zenosyne, she was sure of it. How else could she have fallen so fast and settled so softly? She wanted to scream, but no sound came from her lips. Her body separated from the chain and fell into the narrow crack of the rocks. They thought she would die from the fall. At the very least it should have snapped her ankle. But she was saved. Somehow the chain broke and saved her foot. She was free, but also wedged between the rocks.

A blackbird landed close by and decided there was no food here because the human was still alive. His beak was hoping for a piece of her flesh for a tasty morsel. He cawed madly to scold her, he was so disappointed.

Her captors above were looking to see if she was moving, but not wanting to climb down to investigate. Hoping they would think she was dead, she dared not move from her position. Just wait till dark she thought to herself. Then I can make my escape.

She waited in pain for the sun to set. She looked up and saw no one, so started to move cautiously. A small bit at a time and she could free herself. The end of the chain still attached to her ankle provided some leverage to loosen the rock’s grip. Now was her chance. She slipped out of the narrow space and limped into the river. The cold water soothed her injuries. She would follow the river bank to the safety of her family’s campsite.

FLASH FICTION FOR THE PURPOSEFUL PRACTITIONER-2017-week #07

This is my guitar, this is how I communicate. When I play, I strum my emotions. I reveal my passion with the deep, strong music of the flamenco. I play out my sympathy with the hymn “Amazing Grace”. I show my affection with strands of every love song written by man. I show anger in the tunes of civil rights’ marchers. I show my faith in old gospel music from years ago. My mind muses in a jazz rendition. This is my guitar, the music opens my heart and unveils the real me.
When I was three, my father taught me how to play. Of course my fingers were too small for many chords, but as I grew, so did my knowledge of the guitar and life in general. I will always be grateful to my father for the things he taught me, but the real story is of my growth with the guitar. The strings taught me beauty and strength. I feel the instrument as only a few are capable. My life resonates in its offerings. I speak through my music. The poetry of the strings brings me to life. I am nothing without my instrument.

Picture Prompt-65

My first thoughts were “The Happy Wanderer Song” composed by Wilhelm-Friedrich Möller.
We used to hike while camping in the mountains.  One particular trip we camped at Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado and took a long hike up to a beautiful, cold, clear lake.  I believe it was named Mix Lake.  We encountered some hikers on their way back and the kids asked how much further.  They said “about two miles”.  The kids already exhausted, moaned but we kept going and we were all glad we did.

Picture Prompt-66

First kiss

A new beginning ahead

Dreams instead

First bliss?

The setting is done

Evening sun

Romance this?

Stuff of fairytales

Of love regaled

Love assist?

Seems too perfect

But it’s the concept.

Truth exists.

Love is fleeting

At first meeting

But you can’t resist

That first kiss.
